“Hey, stop looking at me like that– I don’t like how cute you look.”
Janus was enjoying the silence of his home. The only true noise was that of the ticking clock, and the cars outside. He had set himself up on the couch with a book, and a glance of a wine ready for a relaxing few hours when Virgil came home. He called greetings to his boyfriend but Virgil only made a noise in reply. Janus watched as Virgil kicked off his shoes and dropped his bag on the floor.
“That bad a day?” He guessed.
Virgil gave a sigh as he came closer and joined him in the couch, “Let’s not.”
Janus didn’t argue as he turned his attention back to his book, giving Virgil the space he needed but after a pause Virgil scooter closed and made himself comfortable on Janus’ lap. Not that Janus would ever mind. He set his glass down on the table beside him and switched the hand he held the book in and set his free hand on Virgil’s head running his fingers through the top long curls. The soft yet pleasant sigh Virgil gave in response was more than he needed.
It was nice. These moments. Where not a word needed to be said, were some of his favorites. But it was over too soon as he tapped Virgil’s head lightly, “I need you to move so I can get up.”
Virgil made a noise of disagreement as he spun in his lap to give Janus a frown.
Janus raised an eyebrow in response, but when Virgil gave a frown he spoke. “Hey, stop looking at me like that– I don’t like how cute you look.”
Virgil seemed to take that as a challenge.
Janus gave a sigh, “Fine. But don’t complain to me when you’re hungry and dinner isn’t made.”
Virgil gave a slight yet victorious smile as he turned to make himself more comfortable, “That’s what take out’s for.”
