Splendid reading from The Ballad Sessions, 2004
So, what I'm posting below has no relevance to the theme of this blog. Apologies. But with the world in a state of utter madness, I'm clinging to beautiful things like a drowning man to a wooden plank, and this piece of music is the most beautiful thing I know. I hope you enjoy it.
slow dance with your baby
when first we met
i felt my life was such a bore
when first we met
each day i lived was such a chore
going to work and coming home
each day i'm all alone
but now things have changed for me
when first we met
the thrill of seeing you each day
we found such joy
we'd be together come what may
all the movies we would share
we looked the perfect pair
at last what i sought was mine
but then came the time
we would quarrel a lot
we fought and loved and fought each day
i knew we were good together
but that was not enough
to keep the love like
when we first met
there were no problems we could see
when first we met
we were as happy as can be
but those days are far behind
we know love is not blind
it's over, it's gone, goodbye
it's too bad, though we tried
romance slipped away once more

I wish I knew someone like you could love me, I wish I knew you place no one above me; Did I mistake this for a real romance? I wish I knew, but only you can answer. If you don't care, why let me hope and pray so, Don't lead me on, if I'm a fool, just say so. Should I keep dreaming on or just forget you? What shall I do? I wish I knew...
