Song Review: Tommy Emmanuel - “What a Wonderful World” (Live)

What a wonderful melody.

So wonderful, in fact, that Louis Armstrong’s embrace of humanity and the place it calls home comes through without words as Tommy Emmanuel plays a tender, solo-acoustic version of “What a Wonderful World” to a stunned-into-funereal-silence audience.

Recorded live at an undisclosed location on an undisclosed date, this “World” captures the gentler side of Emmanuel as he performs a lilting version of the track captured so perfectly, the sound of his fingerings becomes part of the song.

It’s out to announce the Sept. 4 release of the Mystery (20th Anniversary Edition). The remaster includes two additional in-concert bonus tracks, “The Digger’s Waltz” and “Keep it Simple.”

But this wonderful rendering of “What a Wonderful World” would truthfully be enough. If you don’t believe Sound Bites, dig the audience reaction.
