OMG, life is so hilarious.
Talking to a pianist I know from Scotland. Just shooting the shit. Asked him if he knows ——- (my ex whatever who shall remain nameless). He nodded and I asked him how my former friend was doing (I didn’t say former friend though, just saying that here). “I think he is okay? He lives in Glasgow now” (as if Glasgow is so far away from Edinburgh).
"Yes, I know, I dated him, sorta, for a little while" (my code for "we had a whirlwind romance that lasted for more than several months and cost me a couple grand but it was all worth it cause I got to know a cool guy and see Scotland"). He teased me and said, "I don’t want to get involved with that, ahaha". I said, "no, no, I am just wondering how he is doing."
"I don’t think he is with anyone," he tells me. I told him that I didn’t care about that, I just wanted to know how he was (since, after all, I was his "best friend" and he dropped off the face of the earth a year ago). "I don’t know…I mean he is okay, he’s," then he just trailed off.
Sounds like my ol’ BFF continues to be a bit of a loner (which is totally fine, whatever makes him happy, although I don’t think he is happy and I of course still care about him so I want him to be okay).
God, everything is so weird.
I know so many random Scottish musicians and of course every jazz artist in Scotland knows one another.
