hi jcink anonymous! thanks for being part of the change the rpc needs to see so badly. i hope more people begin to interact with you here!
Thank you! It's good to see people coming together to make the rpc a better and friendlier place!
luckily i have a bunch of friends like that 😂 always telling me to be firm! it's a great thing to have ❤️
Absolutely the best! Surrounding yourself with friends and people who are on your wavelength is one of the healthiest things someone can do in the rpc!
that was a great answer! thank you for the insight. i think a lot of people in the rpc have come to fear telling their writing partners 'no' because it could lead to confrontation. i dream of the day everyone learns how to communicate better.
All the rpc needs to survive the Era of Spilt Tea is learning to communicate. If you have a hard time due to anxiety (which I know I sometimes do), find someone who is willing to stick up for you and can act as an intermediary if they are up to it. That's the important part: only if they want to! I have a friend like that—whips me into having a backbone sometimes—and it really does help my confidence and self-esteem to grow at the (sometimes stern) encouragement of a friend.
yes! please spread love to rpcpositivitea. i'm a regular submitter, and i just stumbled across this blog. thanks for not allowing name dropping, doxxing and witch hunts. its likely the reason your submissions are so few, though, sadly.
so in the spirit of contribution i'll ask you, or anyone else who might be out there: do you ever put the happiness of others before yourself in terms of things you want or are comfortable with? do you find yourself trying to make your RP friends or partners happy at a detriment to yourself or the things you want to do?
i would love to know how to stop doing this.
I submit there as well sometimes, when I am at the computer. I will never allow name-dropping or doxxing, and definitely do not condone any witch hunt, ever. I don't take sides, but I do want to protect people because in the end that's what we all are: people.
In answer to your questions, I do it all the time. I've found that if you assert a little bit more what you want in terms of plots, characters, faces, etc. and your partner should be understanding. That's my test. If the person is willing to listen to my little bit of assertion, and also gives me as much as I give them, then they're a good partner. I'm comfortable with almost everything (keyword: almost), so I generally don't have a hard time finding writing partners who match my speed and energy.
Making sure my partners are happy means in turn they make sure I am happy. If they don't make me happy, but I try really hard with them, then I let them know it's not working out and that I need more energy and input from them. And if they still don't do it, I politely tell them we aren't compatible and move on.
This is a hobby at the end of the day. Finding people who match your zeal and writing style is tantamount to enjoying the rping we're all here to do.
yep. people who cried for mercy were dragged even harder, too. anonymity gives people the idea that they can say whatever they want with no repercussions, but i can only hope that karma will take care of that for us. i hope that from now on people are more invested in spreading love instead of hate, and shutting down any more tattlers that may pop up.
In total agreement to all of what you said. Anonymity kills kindness because people can hide behind their computers with little to no repercussions for their actions/words. It's sickening the same as the state of the rpc is now in. I'm wishing for all the positive vibes. And if you haven't already, spread some love to @rpcpositivitea . The rpc sure could use it!
