Gender Bent Steve and Ace

(Based on the Outsiders Miscast with Hailey!Steve and JPC!Ace)

Hailey!Steve

Such an older sister like you would not believe. Constantly watching out for Ace and chastising him for being a little runt. Basically, she is the one yelling at him when he says something snotty to the grandparents at church. Plus their little sister Bales too. She is the one who will tell Ace which girls are jerks and things like that. 

Steve tends to split her time between her Dad’s house and her and Ace’s shared aunts house. Her dad abuses her. Doesn’t really hit her quite as much but tends to abuse her sexually. The only one who really knows about it is Soda though. Ace is too young and oblivious as he’s running around town by himself half the time. Soda is the one that Steve has spoken with under shared blankets in the middle of the night. She’s scared that no boys will want her after what her Dad has done. Not that she’d ever tell anyone besides Soda that. 

She has a matching tattoo with Ace. It’s an ace of spades partnered by an eagle and it’s on the inside of her bicep. 

She is pretty muscled for a girl with broad shoulders and big arms. She is the big spoon when her and Soda spoon!!

Despite how much Ace and their aunt fight, she gets along with her aunt pretty well. Her mom split when she was pretty young and her aunt was the one to teach her about periods and things like that. She also will fight girls all the time. Sometimes on behalf of her brother or even Soda. 

She is pretty standoffish on the surface. She will not hesitate to cuss boys out who flirt with her or catcall her. She once punched a boy in the face for snapping her bra strap. 

She HATES going on double dates with Soda. Usually Soda will be all into the guy while she tries to make small talk with whoever she got set up with. She always goes home feeling like shit. 

Steve does indulge in a little self harm. Both due to her insecurities and the problems with her dad that have made her feel less than. She’s always felt like the uglier friend out of their gang, with her messed up teeth and boyish shoulders. These attributes are always something that has made her feel out of place or less than a girl. Especially compared to Soda who is so feminine and good with boys. 

Steve in this universe is still good at working on cars. Despite her and her Dad’s awful relationship (there is a lot of resentment towards her for being born a daughter instead of a son) he did teach her to work on cars and a lot of other boyish things. She works at a tire shop right next to the grocery store where Soda works. She does the front desk work even though she is more than qualified to work on the cars in the back. 

Sorry but in this universe, Evie is still a girl and Steve has a very unhealthy infatuation with her. They used to go to church together before Steve’s mom left and they definitely kissed under some pews. 

Ace also has an unhealthy obsession with Evie and tends to flirt with her constantly. Something that Steve HATES. 

Was the girl in elementary school that would wear headbands to school every single day. Like ponytail and headband. Every. Day.

Definitely the french braider of the friend group. Even though she absolutely HATES doing it. Two-Bit will bug and bug and bug her about it. 

JPC!Ace

He is obviously Steve’s little brother, still adopted and very good at annoying the crap out of everyone. Even though he is technically older than Ponyboy, he is still considered the younger brother of the gang and is very good at annoying the crap out of everyone. 

Dallas especially. She has no qualms about smacking him in the back of the head if he gets too annoying. 

He has a history of getting suspended in school simply because he tends to egg others on and agitate people. There has been more than one time where Steve has to pull him off of other guys when he’s purposely pissing them off. 

A hardcore flirt (honestly probably more than girl!Ace at this point because he is not worried about all the girl bullshit that Ace has to worry about). He honestly manages to have girls hanging off of him too. They like his wit and think that his Ace of spades tattoo is cute (I know I would). 

Soda and him have sort of a thing going too. He thinks that Soda is really freaking pretty and constantly hits on her. She doesn’t help any matters by playing into it. He even tried to impress her by getting her name tattooed on his arm. She liked it even though she definitely makes fun of him for it.  

He always flirts with Two-Bit too. During the summer, they’ll lie on the porch and get drunk together while Steve is out with Soda. Two-Bit will make jokes about how Steve asked her to babysit and Ace will play it all tough guy. They will also go out together and Ace will pretend to be Two-Bit’s boyfriend to make other guys jealous. He’s done it for Dallas too, even though it stopped working after a little while because people just knew that they weren’t going together.

Was definitely a biter back in elementary school. Also the type that would pull the girls pigtails when he thought they were cute. 

I’ve already said stuff about his little ace of spades and Soda tattoo. In addition, he has an eagle tattoo that matches Steve’s. In addition to that, he also has a cockroach on his ankle, a snake on his back, and an Ace of spades playing card on his lower stomach. He got really obsessed with stick and poke tattoos and tried to give Emma!Pony one but Brie!Darry yelled at him and nearly kicked his head in. 

Has been arrested more than once and held overnight before but never been to juvie or anything like that. One time it was for flipping off a pair of cops and another time it was trying to take the resources officers (school cop) gun. 

He really enjoys doing these sorts of things for a laugh or to impress girls around the school. Again, just a big fat flirt. 

One time he did get in trouble for selling fake cocaine to junior high kids (It was bags of flour). Steve cussed him out and threatened to tell his aunt if he didn’t give her at least half the money he’d made doing it.
