RE_FX, video installation at the Visual Arts Center, University of Texas, Austin, TX, 1m:10s looped, 2010 Jeff Stanley is an MFA Candidate at the University of Texas at Austin in Transmedia. The artist, Jeff Stanley, works as cultural “hacker” and critical “terrorist”. The character, Jeff Stanley, plays the role of a 2010 Max Headroom, the popular 80s anti-corporation TV personality/seller of Pepsi talking head. Re_FX is part of Stanley’s current series, ConServer. FX serves as a response to the montage technique known as the Kuleshov Effect. Media delivers people. A few deliver media. The audience is the product. However, YouTube and DoItYourself techniques have changed the game.
