I had not listened to this project in a while (almost a year) but it was a lot of fun to do and hopefully I will go through some more of the wonderful acapella tracks that my buddy JD Green so graciously shared with me.

I don't do a lot of remixing, but I think with time I can get the chops together. I do enjoy the process of re-imagining what someone else has written. I believe it allows someone to simply take a different route to the same destination. I didn't take the long way round on this one, I kept it pretty much on the main road and gave a big nod to the era where I learned to really create music: The 1990's.

I'm sure given the opportunity, I would enjoy taking on more projects like this. Make sure you check out JD Green  and if you or an artist that you know would like for me to take a shot at painting some musical goodness behind some completed vocals give me a shout.

Just a draft of something that might be "New Day." The first half is Trey feeling out the bed of music from the vocals I gave him. The second half--at about 4:30--is where the vocals stuff. Just some improv and latin-esque vocal fun. It's just a brainstorm, but it's got me feeling creative again.

Louisville folks, this is going to be one eclectic night of latin, bluegrass, rock, folk, rootsy jazz, soul and funk tunes. I'm ready for all the music! I hope you are, too. Please come out and bring a music lover with you. Derby City Espresso is a cool spot with tasty brews of all sorts. 331 E. Market St. We're bringing our ponchos and galoshes, and getting ready to rival the rain. The down beat is at 9pm. $5 @ the door. Appalatin's kicking us off, so don't miss these fellas by being fashionably late. & Tristen Brooke is dangerous with her guitar! She slaps that baby like its a bass. Pure soul. It's been sitting on my computer since last october, so i figured upload it. It was just me and Doug Ford on keyboard @ Derby City Espresso. Just a few of the songs from the end of the show. The highlights for me are Take It All Away & My Funny Valentine (the 2nd time). Hope you enjoy.

Late Night Singing Pajamathingeething... 

Just posting a couple videos that I recorded tonight. I've been preparing for my show at Derby City Espresso on 2.16 and worked myself into a singing for the YouTube universe kinda mood. So, the first video is me jamming au naturale to The Temptations' "Just My Imagination."  Yaaassss.

The second song is an original arrangement of the spirituals Balm in Gilead & Motherless Child--called simply, "Balm"--that I shared with the good people at the Detroit Spiritual Festival at the end of January. There was no recording of the concert (I almost cried when I found out), so I wanted to share this song with you folks. 

So, yeah... I hadn't thrust any late night videos on the unsuspecting interwebz in a while, so there ya go :)

Be encouraged, y'all. And send me good vibes as I round the bend on finishing this dissertation (and the crowd goes wiiiild).
