Dear Nengi,
Come, sit. Welcome to the next two months of your life in Grand Popo.
This is a season for deep reflection. A season to make excellent art, to listen more closely to yourself, and to reconnect with the core of who you are.
I know the week leading up to today was hell. You cried. You panicked. You felt the loneliness of losing someone you love. You yearned. You danced. You cried some more. You moved through all of it, sometimes gracefully and sometimes not at all; but you kept moving.
And somehow, you made it here.
What I am most proud of is that you did not shut down. You did not shut people out. You leaned into your family and your friends, and they showed up for you. You have been intentional about letting yourself be seen, about saying what hurts, about opening up even when every instinct told you to retreat.
That matters.
Now, it is time to show up for yourself even more.
Document this season. Pay attention to yourself. Make the work. Make the art. Write things down. Ask questions but importantly seek answers. Make images. Notice what changes. Share as honestly as you can, but most importantly, be honest with yourself.
Tomorrow is her birthday. I know that hurts. Let it hurt. You don't have to pretend it doesn't. But you will be okay. You will survive tomorrow, and the day after that, and all the days that come after.
Take the week off Instagram like you planned. Give yourself the space you need. Then, when you're ready, structure your posts the way you imagined. Tell the story you want to tell. Let this season be about more than what you lost. Let it also be about what you are becoming.
There is so much life ahead of you.
So breathe.
Come back to yourself.
Make beautiful things.
And when it gets hard, say it again:
You got this.
Say it with me.
YOU GOT THIS.
Again.
YOU. GOT. THIS.
I believe in you, even if you may not know. When the feeling comes you try to shrug it off but now is the time to trust it. Trust that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
I believe so much in you. Nengi.
With Love,
Nengi.
There's an event that happens. You realise your perspective and reality are two different things. It's brutal. Brutally rewarding at that.
Because now, you get to choose, start from scratch. Don't let it be the same as earlier. You'll kill the fun.
The glow of hope 🌞✨🧡
