Eddie handed Gareth the six pack of chilled beer and grabbed two bowls of popcorn, following him into living room. Jeff and Bear were already there arguing over movies. Eddie smiled as he saw his boyfriends finally together again in one room.
Six months ago, Jeff got accepted into the University of Indiana. He needed a roommate, Eddie needed to get out of Hawkins; it made perfect sense for Eddie and Jeff to move together. With Bear taking a gap year to save money and Gareth repeating his senior year, the four of them had to adjust to being apart for a while. But as Eddie gazed at Bear and Gareth, he had to admit leaving half his heart behind was the hardest thing he’s ever done.
Eddie placed the bowls on the coffee table and as soon as his hands were free, Jeff pulled him on to his lap, making him squirm as he nuzzled into his neck.
“Jeff.” Eddie giggled, even as he leaned into his boyfriend's affection. The other guys stopped bickering at his noise and turned to the pair.
“Hey, no fair it was my turn to cuddle with Eddie!” Gareth whined.
“Snooze you lose.” Jeff shrugged.
“Can't cuddle with me?” Bear asked as he bitchily crossed his arms. Quick to change course, Gareth turned to Bear and wrapped his arms around his waist.
“Come on, I love cuddling with you. You know that!” Gareth promised. “I just haven't seen Eddie in like a month and I missed him.” He explained and pressed a kiss to Bear’s lips.
Eddie missed him too. Once upon a time, Eddie and Gareth were inseparable and even though he tried to hide it, Eddie knew Gareth was jealous of how close he and Jeff had gotten; and was worried about being left behind.
“He's right Jeff, you get me all the time.” Eddie sighed as he tapped his shoulder to be released. The other two were only in town for a week, it was only fair. Reluctantly, Jeff let go and Eddie pulled Gareth into his arms.
“I have an idea.” Bear mumbled. He disappeared for a moment before returning with every blanket he could carry. “Let's make a fort!” Bear always knew what his boys needed.
“Yeah!” Jeff shouted. The four guys got to work using every blanket and pillow they had to make the best fort they could before crawling inside. Bear laid on one side, followed by Eddie, then Gareth, then Jeff. For the rest of the weekend the four of them stayed in the blanket fort, happily cuddling together in different arraignments; though Gareth shoved his way to Eddie’s side as often as possible.
By the end of the third day, Eddie didn’t want to let them leave; it was clear they didn’t want to either.
“Once Gare’s done with school we’re moving.” Bear declared as he wrapped his arms around Jeff’s waist.
“We’ll need a bigger apartment.” Eddie murmured.
“Nah, just a bigger bed…and a sleeping chart.” Jeff laughed, letting Gareth shove himself between him and Eddie again.
