Am cautat cartile astea ca nebunul in librariile online romanesti si nu le-am gasit. Cand am dat un search pe Amazon erau acolo, ultima bucata din fiecare. Sunt mega happy desi mai imi lipseste una. :-))) #AlanBradley #JeanneKalogridis #cecitesc
#91 "The Devil's Queen A Novel of Catherine de Medici" by Jeanne Kalogridis
Really Liked: 4/5 stars
Historical Fiction about Catherine de Medici. I knew prior to reading this book that the Medici's kind of fell out of favor in Italy (thank you Assassin's Creed), but I hadn't heard of Catherine de Medici. She gets visions of future events that will affect her family that involve death and a lot of blood, so she decides to study astrology and try to gain the upper hand against the future. She may or may not had to make sure decisions that required "black magic".
She just wanted to protect her husband and children. Too bad she made a lot of poor decisions and ignores a lot of advice and warning signs. *her children are crazy*
Oh and during her reign the Catholics and the Huguenots are at odds and really dislike each other. Oh and France and Italy are getting kicked around by Spain. And Spain is also beating up the Netherlands. And Spain is beating up....well everyone who needs a little Inquisition in their lives to straighten up their choice in religion. Basically Spain is a big, aggressive bully during this time period.
Why is it when women are powerful and intelligent, they get accused of being manipulative and dealing with the devil? It isn't like we can gain knowledge from reading...it must be from Satan.
