RAY CHARLES AND COUNT BASIE (1961). Vintage borderless press photograph of Ray Charles and Count Basie at a soiree in Antibes, France in 1961. Photographer Jean-Pierre Leloir covered the French music scene in the 1950s and 1960s, including well known images of French stars like Edith Piaf, Johnny Holliday, and Jacques Brel. He also extensively covered the American jazz, blues, and R&B artists in France, and a collection of his jazz photographs was published in 2010.
