RWBY Ramblings:

You know, there's something I've been wondering about RWBY. In recent volumes, whenever Summer Rose is ever referenced or mentioned, why does Yang never react or isn't even in the scene?

Like in V7, Ruby & Qrow are chatting about Summer & Yang is busy making Selfies with her girlfriend. I feel like Yang should have been there to offer her input on Summer's disappearance. Later on in V7, Salem straight up referenced her & while Ruby is standing & freaking out Yang doesn't even react to it (I'm annoyed Yang didn't go over to comfort her sister at least). Sure, there are situations where Yang wasn't relevant or she's literally somewhere else (Poisoned Qrow comments in V4, Ruby thinking about Sum in V6 finale). But honestly, if it weren't for Yang's talk to Blake in V2, you wouldn't even know Yang saw Summer as Super mom.

What I'm trying to say is: Summer was Yang's mom too. Hell, Summer IS Yang's TRUE mom. It's like that line from Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 - "He may have bern your father, boy. But he wasn't your daddy."

Raven may have given birth to Yang, but she abandoned Yang. It was Summer who actually took the time to raise & care for Yang when she had no obligation to. Still not sure why she even call Raven "Mom". Yang's feeling towards her late mother should be more prominent than they are. If she find out Salem killed Summer, Yang should get upset or something. Not a blank reaction on her face while Ruby shows all the emotions. In fact, Yang should be reacting to or mentioning Summer MORE than Ruby. Remember, Summer died BEFORE Ruby could remember her. Yang was old enough to have some memories of her. Summer is important to both, but Yang should be more engaged to Summer talk.

I'm not saying Ruby shouldn't react or care about Summer talk. She absolutely should be. But Yang should be too.

P.S. - Qrow is Yang's Uncle too. V3 is the only time they really interacted. In the time they reunited since V5, Yang hasn't really had any scenes with Qrow as family. When V6 decidd Drunkle Qrow was suddenly bad, Yang didn't do or say anything. Ruby was the only one who did anything, even though Yang grew up with Drunkle Qrow too.

My point about this: Yang is part of Ruby's family as much as Ruby is part of her's. When their family members are brought up or referenced, Yang should have a say too.

Star Wars Ramblings - SW Squadrons

Honestly, I'm disappointed it's 1st person only. For years, I have been hoping a modern starfighter-focused SW game. Basically a modern Rogue Squadron game. I finally get it & it's 1st person only.

If this was any other series, I wouldn't care. I've played & enjoyed plenty of 1st person games (Metriod Prime for example) But with Star Wars, I actually want to see the ships I'm flying. I want to see the X-Wings, TIE fighters, Millennium Falcons, etc. as I fly through space, shooting things down & dodging blaster fire. I like the SW ships & want to see them while I play with them.

I know, I know, people these days prefer 1st person for the immersion & competitive integrity (Multiplayer). I'm just being an old coot. It's great to see people like it. It's just not the game I wanted.

There's other small nitpicks: The B-Wing & TIE Defender getting screwed out of a gaming appearances again. Yet another Rebels vs Imperials game. Those are the only ones I can see right now. Given I haven't brought the game.

But even with all my bitching & moaning, part of me still wants to buy it to show support. I know if this game flops, I'm probably not gonna see another Squadron based game for years, much less a 3rd person one. I need this game to do well so we can get more Starfighter games. Though not TOO well or else we'll ONLY get 1st person starfighter games. I just hope they give 3rd person pilots some love.

One Piece Ramblings

Chapter 956 Spoilers

I'm experiencing Marineford in real time right now. As someone who got into the series after Marineford, I imagine this latest chapter is what it felt like for people reading the manga at the time. Reading the chapters setting & hyping up the major world changing & plot shaking events that is Marineford.

And the Strawhats won't even know until they're out of Wano. Luffy won't know. I get the feeling Oda is going to go back to Wano next chapter too. Meaning that WE, the READERS, won't know either too. Whatever is happening with Sabo & Vivi & the end result of this Shichibukai thing, we probably won't know till Wano.

I could totally see Oda teasing us with this chapter & be like "Okay, enough of that shit. Back to Wano kiddos!"

Fuck, I'm hyped.

TLOU Ramblings

So, new trailer for The Last of Us part 2 is out. Looks like Joel is still alive!

Joel's definitely gonna die this game. I'm 100% certain of that. I've seen this scenario before. An older mentor/parent figure to our main protagonist who dies to push the MC's story forward. Multiply that by the type of setting for this game (a dark, gritty & harsh world where tragedy is common). I saw Joel's Death Flags the instant he showed up on screen.

Why am I so certain of this? Because TLOU 2 is not Joel's story. His story is done & he had his time. This is ELLIE's story. Hell based on the trailer, the whole reason for this story is because Ellie wants revenge on those who killed her girlfriend. Ellie is the one driving the plot. Obviously, the plot could evolve. It could become about something else later on or something.

There's also the fact that we're gonna play predominantly from Ellie's perspective. I imagine there will be segments where we play as Joel again (a reverse of previous game).

I wonder what will happen throughout the game. What allies will Ellie met on the journey? How will she come to terms with Dina's death? Would the truth about the end of TLOU 1 ever come up during this game?

Silver Eye Warriors

Um, are we ever gonna get a basic, but more interesting term/title/name for "Silver Eye Warriors"? Silver Eye Warriors is a bit of a mouthful. Yes, we can abbreviate it as SE warriors or SEWs. But shouldn't there be a proper term for it?

Imagine if instead of being a Jedi, Luke Skywalker was a "Light side force user".

If instead of being the Avatar, Aang or Korra was a "Bender who could use all 4 elements".

If instead of being an Autobot, Optimus Prime was a "Good Transformer" or a "Transformer who fights for good".

They have good & simple terms/titles for these characters & who they are.

Honestly, "Silver Eye Warrior" is just a little too literal. Walk up to someone who doesn't watch RWBY & say "Ruby is a Silver Eye Warrior." They would think "Okay, Ruby is a warrior with silver eyes & that's it." It doesn't sound like she's special, unique or part of a specific group. It sounds like you're just describing her in a barebones way. It's literally just a physical characteristic & their occupation smack together.

It's like saying "Link is a blonde hair knight", "Goku is an orange outfit fighter" or "Jeddy017 is a dark skin artist". A bit lacking in creativity if you ask me.

I don't know, but this is just me rambling like an idiot about my thoughts on the matter (like usual). I'm sure there are plenty of people who like SEW. I'm not saying it's bad, I just find it a little boring & too literal. While it could be better or worse, it's fine & does it's job. Like passing through school with nothing but Cs.

Kai'sa thoughts

Visually: For me, this is the weakest part about her. I've seen others state that she looks generic or her face looks too normal for someone who's been in the Void & I kind of agree.

Gameplay: This looks fine. If she's suppose to be a high risk, high reward champ like Vayne, then I imagine she will be a very fun champ to play when mastered. Doesn't really mean much to me since I don't play ADC much anyway. Though, I practically main Support, so I'm going have to see how it is playing with & against her. Gut feeling says she might be annoying.

Narrative/Character: Okay, waiting for more before this. Like the special VO interactions, hearing some of her lines & reading her lore.

On the bright side & something I'm more excited, the next champ related release should be the Irelia update. Should be about a month or 2 after Kai goes live.
