After the fall of Starlight Beacon, Elzar Mann realizes that he's being haunted. Can he convince Avar to help him lay Stellan's ghost to rest?

"The ritual can be enacted in different ways, but the most effective method is said to be—coitus."  "Coitus!?" Avar's eyes opened wide and she leaned forward, whispering much too loudly. "Elzar, is this a dark side sex ritual?" "It's not a dark side ritual at all," Elzar hissed, glancing around to make sure no one was eavesdropping on them. There were several masters working at carrels around the room and two padawans at a table near the entrance, but it didn't look like any of them had heard. "And it's not a sex ritual per se—" Avar laughed, doing an ineffective job of stifling herself. "You cannot be serious!" 

Author reveals are up for the For Light and Life High Republic fic exchange, so I can reveal that I wrote a story in which Elzar Mann is haunted by his dead best friend and then solves this problem by having threesome ghost sex with him and his other best friend. Like you do.

I need fanart specifically from Chapter 20 of Temptation of the Force. But very specifically...

I really wish we got to explore more of Avar and Stellan's relationship with each other in the books. There's so much about the three of them -- Elzar, Avar, Stellan -- always being together when they were younger, and the only time we see them together as adults is the mention of them at the Starlight Beacon dedication.

Stellan mentions that Avar was at his elevation to Council member -- while Elzar was communing with the sea on Ashla -- as well as was with him when he found his former Master's lightsaber waiting for him.

Avar and Stellan are always shown being at odds with each other during the books and comics. Even others notice the tension whenever Avar and Stellan share space, from Emerick and Sian going "Uh, yeah, nope" in the Trails of Shadows comic and even Vernestra notices the tension when she goes to speak to Avar in Out of the Shadows.

I've seen some talk about how some people interpret it as a triangle, but that would imply that would be two of them fighting over another. And I can't see Stellan and Elzar fighting over Avar, nor can I see Avar and Stellan fighting over Elzar.

If anything, Avar and Stellan have probably grown up figuring out who's responsible for wrangling Elzar at any given time. (Read: it's Stellan. It's always Stellan.)

Stellan admitted to Elzar that he felt left out that he and Avar were closer to each other than to him. And yet, it's news to Elzar when Stellan confesses it.

It's canon that Avar and Elzar fucked; it's more fanon interpretation whether or Elzar and Stellan and Stellan and Avar fucked. I think there's plenty to interpret of how close Elzar and Stellan are from The Rising Storm and The Fallen Star. For Stellan and Avar, however, we've got precious little besides Emerick's observation about how Stellan and Avar used to be close after Stellan had pointed out Emerick's closeness with Sian.

To be clear: you don't need to be banging to be a legit polycule. (But it's a LOT more fun that way in my mind! :D )

In any case, I think it's certainly plausible -- and frankly, likely -- that all three have been physically intimate in the past, but also that it may not be as important for Stellan and Avar as it is for disaster Mann.

The more I think about it, Avar and Stellan remind me a lot of a married couple that works too much, in the most tragic of ways. I definitely believe that they loved each other the same way they love Elzar, and really wish that we could have seen more of that in canon.
