A Dance of Foils
I played a game of MFZ: Firebrands with some friends, and I'm so obsessed with the dynamics that formed between the characters. Especially between CC, Echo, and Marble. I just had to paint them >:3
"Distance yourself from angry people, and avoid hotheads, or you will become like them and endanger your soul." Proverbs 22.24-25
The contrast between Avar Kriss (as perceived by Elzar) and Avar Kriss (as perceived by Stellan) is so funny to me because these are the two people who know her and love her more than anyone else in the galaxy, but if you mention her name to them Elzar's like "she's the most wonderful, selfless, brave, strong, beautiful woman in the galaxy, she can do anything, she's never done anything wrong ever in her life"... meanwhile Stellan's like "ah yes, my favourite recurring headache (affectionate) - what the fuck has she done now, do I need to schedule an intervention?"
And like
They're both so right
counting down the days until Trials of the Jedi! my third high republic bookmark is done ✨
We are in a duel, sword to sword...
We lock swords and your mouth is near my ear. What do you say?
You thrust perilously close to my face. Do you cut me? Where?
We circle, swords’ tips touching. What do you say to me?
I get my sword’s point high up under your chin. Do you submit or flee?
in my heart of hearts I know that this is what their relationship was like all the time (lovingly of course)
incorrect firebrands
Elzar Mann’s lightsaber made with lacewood, Mexican rosewood, and African rosewood, with a cherry stand.
Finally completed the firebrands’ lightsabers! Good reference images for Elzar’s hilt were really hard to find but I got the high republic lightsaber book recently so now I have reference for everything.
I thought the Mexican rosewood would be darker before I cut into it but it turned out to have a really dramatic grain pattern, which is really nice, just not what I was expecting. It’s also quite hard so you can get a really smooth finish.
