Looking at the traditional Jedi Trials a Padawan has to go through to become a Knight, and wondering how they apply to Cal Kestis. Here's my thoughts:

Trial of Skill: fighting in the arena on Ordo Eris

Trial of Courage: facing (and defeating) the Ninth Sister

Trial of Spirit: opening the Tomb of Kujet on Dathomir

Trial of the Flesh: holding on to goodness after Order 66 and during life on Bracca

Trial of Insight: turning Nightsister Merrin from an enemy to an ally

There are multiple events that could count toward each trial, but these are the ones I like best.

The Jedi Trials were a series of challenges that a Padawan must overcome in order to be promoted to the rank of Knight. They included the Trials of Skill, Courage, Flesh, Spirit, and Insight. The exact nature of the Trials was nebulous, and often Jedi faced them without preparation, as is the way of the Force.

Aight aight so we all know that Ahsoka was one “yes” away from being a Jedi knight. The council was ready to consider the whole ordeal her great trials. Now here’s the question, which great trial had she passed and when did she pass them? Star Wars goes back and forth to about a lot of things, wether or not padawans need to pass all the trials or just enough of them being one of those things.

Here’s my theory:

Trial of skill: this definitely has to be when she escaped the facility. She faces off numerous guards, clones, and jedi both with lightsabers and with acrobatic skill and succeeds in escaping.

Trial of courage: could also be her trial? But I like to think it’s her escape from capture by the trandoshins. Home girl bested two of her captors without sabers and saved as many people as she could in a hopeless situation

Trial of insight: I like to think this also comes from her escape. This ones all about illusion and trust, being able to sniff out the truth. Ahsoka knows she is not safe with the council or the senate and actively avoids it even when she is urged to return be people she does trust (aka. Anakin)

The last two I’m unsure of.

Trial of the spirit is about facing the darkest parts of ones self, it COULD be ryloth or mortis. But rhloth seems way too early and she doesn’t remember mortis at all. Meanwhile with the Trial of the Flesh I can’t recall any real serious injuries that Ahsoka had gone through to really call it a trial of the flesh. She gets injured plenty of times, but this trial is supposed to be about enduring severe physical pain or loss (apparently Jedi used to literally subject their padawans to torture for this sooo… yikes)

So, along with the “Ben is training Rey” idea that a lot of people had after the teaser, could Ben be using the Force Bond to be acting as Rey’s master in the Jedi Trials? But like, she has no idea, she thinks he’s actually trying to fight her, but really he’s finally becoming her teacher like he offered to be, and after their last fight on the Death Star he’s like “Congrats, you’re a knight of the Jedi Order now” and she’s all What??? And then they smooch.

IDK probably wrong but it’s a fun headcanon for the next month.

Adventures on Ilum!

While Ahuska and Crow carry on their mission to rescue Nines, Ulfran has taken his technically-not-but-might-as-well-be padawan, Nela, on a trip to participate in some honest Jedi traditions in Ilum. Things started out great, they both got new lightsabers, Nela ‘faced the mirror’, Ulfran actually started to find some peace within himself and get some colour back into his eyes, they looked well on their way to solving some trouble involving a rampaging murderous Talz and forging a solid alliance with the tribe...

...and then it all came to a head when the true foe made an appearance. They survived, and Nela and Keth’s quick thinking and action made certain that one (arguably the more concerning) of the two antagonists did not, but Ulfran has come away no longer connected to the Force. He’s not doing great.

(Nela, of course, belongs to @humanrevolt, who I still owe my eternal thanks to for everything we’ve created thus far, and everything still to come!! <3)

Kanan’s Trials

1) Trial of Skill 

While the test did consist of numerous displays of lightsaber technique, the main thing that the battlemaster looked for when judging a potential Knight was their ability to avoid distraction through self-discipline.

2) Trial of Courage

Before the test was mainstreamed, battlefield heroics or facing down a Sith Lord qualified as passing.

3) Trial of the Flesh

Involving the apprentice overcoming great physical pain, hardship, or loss, the Trial was known to involve bloodshed of some form.

4) Trial of Spirit 

To pass the Trial of the Spirit, apprentices had to look deep within their souls, on a quest of self-discovery. 

5) Trial of Insight

This test helped a Jedi to see what was really in front of their eyes through use of the Force. Seeing through illusion, evaluating an individual's true persona, and unveiling lies are essential to a successful mission.
