the concept of the universe lied invisible in every being's palms, heavy and inexplicable, much larger than the mystery of life itself. dividing its vastness into smaller sections could help with understanding how it flowed, but controlling its unknown tides would be a mere 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 to anyone who was breathing on a limited time that mortality had to offer. his neutral, immediate response to those thoughts was to break the universe and while some may have felt fright creeping coolly all the way down their spine upon hearing such, padmé accepted his shared thoughts as they were, inclined to walk through the conversation side by side with him rather than immediately throwing the ball back in his court and deeming his seemingly preferred method as wrong.

a somewhat absentminded curl of a smile tempted the corner of her cherry mouth as she leaned forward in her seat, delicate palms meeting each other to lightly lace her fingers. ❝ hm. yet there would be no guarantee that smaller fragments would be any easier to comprehend, would there ❞, she mused in a soft 𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞, ❝ i too wish i could understand everything, in every meaning of the word, but i'm afraid our minds do not have the capacity for such. and there's a chance the universe doesn't understand us any better than we do handle its eternity. ❞ there was a short pause as padmé studied his features, hoping to detect some softening or a sign of increasing relief for being heard.

❝ there's already so much violence around us as it is. instead of breaking anything, we could choose to nurture, protect and accept. you could be the one to hold the universe in your hands and gently lull it to sleep, assure it that it's safe with you even if you don't understand its every detail. you, ani, if anyone, have the power for such. ❞ one 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 still remained and it danced on her tongue too temptingly to not let it run free. ❝ but where is all of this coming from ? talk to me. ❞

The  problem  with  the  dreams  is  that  he's  not  always  sure  when  he's  awake  and  when  he's  sleeping.  Sometimes  they  are  so  real,  so  vivid,  he  wakes  and  sobs  because  he's  lost  them,  and  overwhelmed  by  grief,  he  realizes  nothing  has  changed.  His  family,  his  people:  gone.  Each  of  his  friends,  nearly  all  of  them  having  met  tragic  ends.  Padmé,  begging  him  to  believe  there  was  still  good  in  her  husband.  Padmé,  taking  her  final  breathes  and  leaving  him  behind  with  her  children,  alone.  Alone.  He  is  alone.  It's  been  ten  years  and  he  had  hoped  time  would  assuage  the  agony  of  the  wound  but  despite  all  the  time  that  has  passed,  he  relieves  it  each  night  in  his  dreams.  They  are  good,  sometimes.  And  those  are  the  worst.  Anakin,  his  face,  he  laughter,  words  passed  between  them.  His  padawan,  his  brother,  his  friend.  To  wake  and  forget,  just  for  a  moment.

Since  cutting  himself  off  to  the  Force  he  cannot  even  reach  Qui-Gon  any  longer.  If  his  old  Master  can  come  to  him,  he  doesn't.  It  is  Obi-Wan  Kenobi,  alone.  For  so  long  he  ached  and  longed  to  see  someone,  anyone.  And  then  he  realized  no  one  was  coming.  They  were  gone.  They  were  dead.  Anakin  was  dead.  No  amount  of  dreaming  would  bring  back  to  him  the  young  man  he  had  helped  raise,  the  one  he  had  poured  his  love  into.  Tonight  is  no  different.  The  dream,  as  they  often  are,  is  non-linear.  Within  the  dream,  it  doesn't  matter  -  nothing  makes  sense  and  so  everything  makes  sense.  Anakin  is  there.  His  image  changes  like  a  glitching  holo.  A  nine  year  old  boy,  to  the  knight  he  became,  back  to  the  padawan.  Covered  in  blood  and  burning  alive.  Calling  to  him.  Begging  him.

Help  me,  master.

On  the  slab  of  stone  he  calls  a  bed,  Obi-Wan  sweats,  breathing  heavily,  fighting  an  invisible  foe,  lost  in  the  dream  turned  nightmare.

when  infiltrating  another  wizard's  home,    it  is  recommended  to  that  one  should  always  be  careful  to  search  for  any  s̲p̲e̲l̲l̲s̲ ̲ ̲o̲r̲ ̲ ̲i̲n̲c̲a̲n̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲s̲  on  any  objects  or  atmospheres  that  could  potentially  disturb  one's  peace  of  mind  or,    in  howl's  case,    any  tricks  he  might  have  up  his  sleeve.    unfortunately,    he  had  quite  forgotten  to  c̲h̲e̲c̲k̲ ̲ ̲t̲h̲e̲ ̲ ̲f̲i̲r̲e̲p̲l̲a̲c̲e̲  for  any  lingering  objects,    &.    as  it  were,    also  forgotten  that  magical  fires  caused  a  great  ruckus  when  something  was  left  in  the  hearth.    this  time,    it  was  a  bar  of  soap,    which  now  bubbled  in  the  heat  of  the  fire.    those  bubbles  rose  from  the  flames  &.    soon  began  to  fill  the  room,    at  just  the  time  he  heard    (  or  felt  !  )    anakin  approach.    thank  heavens  :    a̲ ̲ ̲b̲i̲t̲ ̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲ ̲h̲e̲l̲p̲,    maybe  !

the  way  he  held  the  door  open  in  front  of  anakin  now,    endless  bubbles  streaming  past  him  &.    fluttering  through  the  air,    up  &.    up  toward  the  clouds,    was  with  a  great  deal  of  embarrassment.    he  grimaced  sheepishly,    stepping  outside  &.    l̲e̲t̲t̲i̲n̲g̲ ̲ ̲e̲v̲e̲n̲ ̲ ̲m̲o̲r̲e̲ ̲ ̲b̲u̲b̲b̲l̲e̲s̲ ̲ ̲c̲a̲s̲c̲a̲d̲e̲ ̲ ̲p̲a̲s̲t̲ ̲ ̲h̲i̲m̲.      ❛  i  made  a  mistake.  ❜

               HE  SITS      in  the  far  darkened  corner  of  the  cantina .  it’s not  a  habit ,  really , as  obi - wan  does  his  best  to  avoid  interacting  with  people  too  often .  but  every  once  in  awhile ,  he  allows  himself  to  come ,  sit ,  have  a  drink  and  a  small  meal  before  returning  to  the  wastes .  a  small  concession  he’s  allowed  himself  in  his  life  of  isolation .  it’s  also  a  good  place  to  hear  the  murmurings  of  the  empire  and  the  rest  of  the  galaxy ,  to  know  what  new  wretched  horror  the  emperor  is  imposing  on  everyone  else.  a  bit  morbid , perhaps ,  but  somehow  it’s  almost  better  than  being  left  alone  with  his  own  thoughts . 

              he’s  taking  a  sip  of  his  drink  when  a  feeling  so  familiar  sweeps  over  him ,  it  practically  locks  him  in  place .  his  head  snaps  up ,  the  drink  splashing over the  table .  obi - wan  doesn’t  even  notice  it .  he  is  staring  at  the  disguised  figure  walking  through  the  door .  a  figure  that  even  without  sight ,  without  hearing ,  obi - wan  would  know  anywhere .      anakin     . 

              kenobi  stands  from  his  booth ,  still  back  in  the  darkened  corner ,  still  slightly  hidden  by  the  dim  light ,  but  he  is  not  hiding .  he  waits ,  and  watches ,  knowing  that  anakin  must  feel  him  too .  even  if  he’d  thought  the  man  dead      (      MURDERER      )     ,  dead  years  ago  on  mustafar .  and  yet . . .

    UNCLE  OWEN  WARNED  HIM  ABOUT  HIS  WANDERING ,    and  now  Luke  found  himself  sorely  wishing  that  he  had  listened .      he  hadn’t  thought  he’d  gone  far ,    the  docked  ships  were  just  a  block  away  from  the  merchants .      and  he  knew  he  shouldn’t  have  gone  alone ,    but  the  old  Republic  Y - wing  he  saw  had  caught  his  interest  and  it  was  only  going  to  be  a  quick  look .      his  Uncle  wasn’t  supposed  to  notice  he  was  gone .      the  Y - wing  had  landed  a  bit  further  out  and  Luke  had  weaved  through  the  shadows  of  the  other  ships  to  get  to  it ,    but  in  the  process  he’d  bumped  into  something ,    or  someone ,    and  the  next  thing  he  knew  he  was  panic .

    he  didn’t  know  what  was  happening .      he’d  tried  to  fight  back ,    he  did ,    but  there  wasn’t  much  a  seven - year - old  could  do  against  full  grown  men .      though  he  couldn’t  see  him  anymore ,    he  still  hadn’t  had  a  chance  to  scream  for  his  Uncle  before  a  rough  hand  had  covered  his  mouth  and  he  was  dragged  onto  a  ship .      there  hadn’t  been  a  way  for  him  to  see  it ,    but  he  could  feel  the  ship  they’d  thrown  him  in  lift  off  and  terror  gripped  him  when  it  did  and  the  reality  of  what  was  happening  settled  in .      when  he  dreamt  of  traveling  the  galaxy ,    this  wasn’t  what  he  had  in  mind .

    now  he  stood  in  an  unfamiliar  place ,    a  warehouse  of  sorts  perhaps ,    far  away  from  his  home .      Luke  had  been  placed  in  another  room  by  his  captors ,    who  refused  to  share  anything  with  him ,    but  they  were  still  dumber  than  he  thought .      considering  they  hadn’t  removed  the  little  tool  belt  his  Aunt  Beru  had  gifted  him  for  his  birthday .      Luke  had  managed  to  free  himself  from  his  constraints  with  one  of  the  tools  inside  and  slip  away ,    though  quickly  getting  himself  lost  in  the  process .      he  hugged  himself  ‘round  the  middle  as  he  carefully  tiptoed  through  the  towering  crates ,    brows  furrowed  at  the  labels  warning        ‘      CAUTION :    EXPLOSIVE  MATERIAL  INSIDE      ’        on  a  few  of  them .      his  hands  rested  atop  the  lid  of  one  without  a  label ,    and  he  wondered  if  there  was  something  inside  it  that  could  help  him .      the  lid  was  heavy  as  he  pushed  against ,    and  he  only  got  it  moved  halfway  before  the  sound  of  a  door  opening  had  him  ducking  for  cover ,    the  shadow  of  someone  passing  through  a  light  flashing  across  where  his  head  had  once  been .

    wide ,    terrified  blue  eyes  peaked  out  from  around  the  tower  of  crates  he’d  hidden  behind  as  a  man ,    not  one  of  the  ones  who  kidnapped  him ,    walked  in .      his  little  heart  pounding  in  his  ears  had  Luke  afraid  that  the  stranger  would  hear  it  too .
