i think the problem with dashcon is that they aimed way too high for a first year con

first year cons, if anything, should be more like meetups? think like four-six hours in the park talking about fandoms and having a barbecue or something.

and then if that works out a few times you can try a small hotel/convention center and try maybe a one-two day convention with a few panels and a little corner for artists

and if that works you might be able to startdoing full blown weekend conventions

don't worry about celebrity guests for a while. theyre basically supposed to be icing on the cake. i mean the point of a convention is to meet people with similar interests anyway
