Kings & Queens - A Poem By Jeffrey Wallace

Martin had a dream That one day we would be Kings and Queens Seems like the progression inverted to regression Depression of 400 years with tears pierce the ears of a generation causing them to act with no hesitation The opposite pigmentation saw Evolution as pollution Dr King saw his dream as the vivid immaculate solution Preach the art of love and to turn the other cheek But now the youth bang, slang pants drop as they turn to show their other cheek Hard to be meek in a ignorant generation Inner city adolescents see the streets as a occupation Pushing work or murk in the hood like trayvon Cause a hood must mean no go when the dust turn to dawn Drowning in information yet we don't thirst for knowledge Colored forefather are the reason we integrated yet we don't acknowledge The strife their life encountered on Mother Earth Not understanding The existence enhanced our worth . Jermaine told us that any things possible Dr King dreamed like he never seen obstacles And when those Hurdle did become to high He reached his arms to the sky and his father allowed him to fly . Martin Luther King Jr had a dream That one day we would be Kings and Queens the road traveled most is not always what it seems Us Kings and Queens must not fear to stand alone what's a king or queen if they do not claim their throne -Jaye Newton
