Jeffcest: Sunshine x Ghost
Sunshine saw the bullets flying past, one just narrowly missing Ghost. Sunshine knew Ghost would be fine, theyâre the same so Ghost would just come back to life like Sunshine would, but the thought of Ghost being killed still made his blood boil. How dare someone try to take Ghost away from Sunshine? The one good thing sunshine had going for him? He wouldnât allow it.
Sunshine told Ghost to hide behind the big rock, at least that way no more bullets were likely to hit him as they were with the hay bale Ghost was currently using. It was a short distance to run to the rock, but Sunshine would make sure their assailants were too distracted with him to take notice of Ghost trying to hide.
âGive me a few seconds to distract them and when it looks clear, run.â Sunshine said just softly enough that only Ghost would hear his voice. Ghost nodded and swallowed. Once he was out of the firing line Sunshine could relax a little. Again he knew Ghost would be alright, heâd come back perfectly fine just as Sunshine always had, but Sunshine didnât want to wait around bored and doing nothing while Ghost was regenerating. Making Ghost get to safety was the better choice.
Taking a breath Sunshine counted to himself, made eye contact with Ghost to let him know he was going to go now, and when the nod of acknowledgement came Sunshine jumped out from behind where he had been hiding and ran directly at the man firing at them. Army men in their uniforms, skilled and well trained, but they fought like they were scared to die, Something Sunshine had never given any mind too.
What's a few bullet wounds when he knew it wouldnât matter in a couple hours anyway? After years of being on his own, of being hunted and then becoming the hunter, of becoming more familiar with the sting of a cut or the heat of a bullet embedding itself under his skin then any normal person should be. But that was the thing Sunshine supposed, he wasnât a normal person.
They had been caught off guard and so Sunshine had left his gun inside of Ghost's barn. Instead Sunshine used the knife he kept on himself, easily slicing through a few of the men, his reaction speed faster and more precise than any of theirs. It was quick work, and Sunshine only got hit twice, once in the leg and once in his shoulder. Nothing serious, he barely even felt it until after he was sure the fight was over.
Taking a moment to confirm he had in fact gotten everyone he counted. Four, five- There should be six. There was six men when they had first showed up, where did the last wonder off too Sunshine wondered.
A scream of his name broke him out of his assessment, Ghost was calling for him. Sunshine's head spun so fast towards the sound, towards where Ghost should now be hiding behind the rock, he felt a little dizzy from the speed.
As he ran and got closer Sunshine could now hear Ghosts voice, pleading, begging, to stay. With him, with Sunshine.
âWhat do you even want me for, you can just make a new one of him! Just let me go and you wont have to ever see us again, Let me stay with him, please.â
Finally getting behind the rock Sunshine saw a scene of Ghost on the floor an axe laying a small distance away, blood staining his pants where he had clearly already been shot at some point, how Sunshine hadnât heard him scream before he didnât know. He really had gotten too caught up in taking out their would-be killers.
Above Ghost was the missing man Sunshine had been looking for, a shallow cut on his cheek no doubt Ghost had made before somehow being thrown to the ground. The man had his gun aimed straight at Ghosts head. When Sunshine came into the picture the mans head shot up to look at him and he looked like he was seeing a ghost, and not just the one currently on the floor.
âT-two? There's two of you?! There's only supposed to be one? Where the fuck did you come from?â The man cursed.
Not wanting to waste any more time, and to get the gun pointed away from Ghost as soon as possible Sunshine said nothing and instead lunged at the man.
A choice Sunshine would come to regret.
In the few seconds it took to reach the man, Sunshine saw the panic in his eyes, saw him try to adjust his aim to change to Sunshine, and finally saw him pull the trigger. Except the man must have been a new recruit or something because his aim was way off, Sunshine didnât even feel a slight burn as he finally reached the man, instantly snapping his neck and dropping his now lifeless body to the floor.
The man had had really bad aim, Sunshine thought. Until he turned to check on Ghost. Ghost who hadnât made a noise since Sunshine showed up, Ghost who had begged to be left alone and live in peace with Sunshine, Ghost who now had a bullet hole through the middle of his neck.
Sunshine quickly fell to his knees, the pain of slamming into the hard flooring not registering over the sound of Ghosts soft gurgling.
âGhost?â Sunshine called to him, the word hard to get out,âGhost, fuck, okay, okay, its fine, Itâs going to hurt, but you will be fine.â Gently Sunshine cradled Ghostâs body against his own, gently cupping Ghost's cheek, âWhen you come back Iâll be right here.â Sunshine said softly, softer than he had ever spoken before, as he watched Ghost's body fall silent, Ghost's eyes staring blankly up at him now.
This is what he wanted to avoid. They had spoken about it before the first time Ghost had watched Sunshine die. A few hours later Ghost was back up and running, as if he had never had his head cut off. Sunshine couldnât die. Well he could die, but he never stayed that way. Every time he would be dead for a few hours before resurrecting perfectly healthy like nothing had happened, sometimes a little hungry but otherwise fine.
Sunshine gently picked Ghost up, bridal carrying him, making sure his head was resting against Sunshine's chest instead of hanging backwards. Even if he came back intact sometimes Sunshine would feel the ache in his back if heâd spent his few hours sprawled out in an uncomfortable position.
Sunshine staggered back to the barn, his leg where he had been shot chose now to finally want to be acknowledged and sending jolts of pain with every step. Sunshine's arm also deciding to start feeling like it was going to fall off. But Sunshine persisted and made it all the way to Ghosts -their- bed, placing Ghost's body down as gently as he could.
Once his goal was accomplished Sunshine also collapsed on the bed. He needed a few minutes to recover, just a few minutes to relaxâŠ
â----------------------------------------------
When Sunshine woke up it was dark outside, the moon now high in the sky. Sunshine hadnât meant to fall asleep, he had just wanted to take a few moments to calm down. Breathing deeply, Sunshine looked to the other side of the bed, where Ghost's body was resting. It looked the same as it had hours ago when Sunshine first placed him there, the hole in his neck the same size. Ghostâs skin looked more pale, and touching his cheek Sunshine felt nothing but coldness.
Well Sunshine had never seen what he looked like dead so he didnât know if he also looked as bad as Ghost did now.
Not wanting Ghost to wake up shivering, Sunshine tucked Ghost under a blanket, and then wondering if one was enough decided to add a second.
They had spoken about death before, the first time Ghost had seen Sunshine come back he bombarded Sunshine with 1000 questions, and when Sunshine had looked at him confused why he didnât already know the answers Ghost explained he himself had never died.
They had talked for hours, Sunshine answering every question, and finally they had come to the conclusion: They were clones of the same man, they would have the same power. Of course they had never tested it, Sunshine didnât want to just kill Ghost to test a hypothesis (what if they were wrong?) And Ghost wasnât exactly jumping at the idea to kill himself either. But why wouldnât they be the same? Of course they were.
Sunshine remembered when he first died, he truly thought it was the end, heâd felt the gunshot to the head for a split second before everything went black, then hours later he had woken up to the feeling of the sun on his skin, and its light blinding his unused eyes. He had found out a while after he had collected himself it was a week later than when he died. His first time he had taken a week to recover. Sunshine really hoped Ghost didnât take that long.
Ghost made a bath for himself and washed off the dried and caked blood, he dug out the two bullets still inside him. He hadnât taken them out before falling asleep and so his skin had tried to heal over the top of them meaning he had had to cut the healing flesh to reach inside. Once taken out and dried after the bath Sunshine wrapped up the wounded areas so they wouldn't get dirt inside and become infected. Something Ghost had scolded him for once when he saw Sunshine ignoring his injuries. If they werenât actively in his way and hindering him Sunshine had stopped seeing a reason to take care of them.
Once he deemed himself good enough Sunshine took to doing the same for Ghost, taking off his ripped and dirtied clothing and wiping him clean of any blood or other grime on his skin, taking extra care around the leg Ghost had been shot in and his neck and once again also fishing out the bullets. It was easier to do on Ghost as his flesh hadnât started to mend itself meaning Sunshine hadnât needed to reopen any wounds. Sunshine made a mental note that in the future if Ghost ever died again, something Sunshine would not let happen twice, he would make sure to take care of Ghost's wounds before passing out himself. Wrapping up both injuries Sunshine finally redressed Ghost in the softest clothes he had before laying him back down onto a now clean bed.
There was nothing to do now except wait.
The night passed quickly as even after just waking up for an impromptu nap Sunshine was still exhausted and easily went back to sleep, holding Ghostâs body in his arms, it was a good way to warm Ghost up Sunshine told himself.
In the morning the first thing Sunshine did was check on how Ghost was doing. Once again he looked as he had when Sunshine placed him on the bed. It was fine. The first time resurrecting would take time, as much as he didnât want to, Sunshine knew it would likely be days before Ghost came back.
Deciding to busy himself with getting rid of the corpse of the men he had killed yesterday Sunshine spent hours digging holes in the ground. He didnât want to, those men didn't deserve any kind of burial but Sunshine knew Ghost would be annoyed if he woke up to rotting corpses around his barn. So Sunshine did the bare minimum, holes deep enough any wild animals around wouldn't dig the bodies up, and also he made sure the holes were far enough away from the barn Ghost shouldnât randomly stumble across them.
Once all that was done the day was mostly over, night once again falling. Sunshine made a simple meal, something Ghost had taught him, and deep down he knew Ghost would not be returning only a day after, he still made an extra portion just in-case.
Day two, three, four and five passed agonizingly slowly for Sunshine. What did he used to do before Ghost? Sunshine couldnât recall anything beyond hunting down the people who had hurt him, and itâs not like he could do that right now without leaving Ghostâs side, something he was not going to do. He would be there when Ghost finally reopened his eyes.
Sunshine spent his days tending to Ghost's small garden, a few flowers planted around the outside of the barn. He had also taken to fixing up some of the problems around the barn too, a few holes in the walls/roof. A door that didnât shut properly. Sunshine even resorted to talking to Ghostâs horse, Spicy. He really had never felt crazier than when he was spilling his feelings to a horse.
Every night Sunshine had always made an extra portion of food just in case. He ended up eating it the next morning each day.
On the seventh night Sunshine was sure Ghost would return, so instead of the normal plain basic meal he had been making as just something he needed to eat, he made something nicer, it wasnât amazing as Sunshine sucked at cooking, but it was something Sunshine would be happy to wake up too after being dead for a few days.
To be fair Sunshine would be happy just waking up to anything made by Ghost.
Sunshine set the table nicely, even lighting a candle, and sat at the table, eyes never leaving Ghostâs face. Sunshine had closed Ghostâs eyes at one point so now stared intently, making sure he wouldnât miss even a flutter of his eyelashes.
Sunshine waited.
And waited.
And waited.
