How Did New York's Trains Get so Bad? | NYT
Heavy Woods.
50 Wycoff Ave. Photo, Bushwick Daily for Heavy Woods.
Time: Monday-Friday from 2pm-7pm.
Deal: Dollar of drafts and 4 dollar well drinks.
Tab: 1 draft, 1 cider, 1 wine, crab cakes, salad, pecan pie, $48
Vibe: It's so fucking cute, but it's like an alien invasion set in when we were there. "Everyone is at the bar on their phones and no one is talking." At first glance, it looks like only a bar in Bushwick can pull off, and hen I found out it's a coffee shop in the morning. Makes sense now. They play solid classic rock jams which seems to pull their look together.
Boozeworthiness: Awesome place to go by yourself or with a group. They have a whole secret section in the back. The whiskey sour I ordered for my well drink was made so well. No gun sour here. Definitely a place I could see myself snuggling up to.
Side note: THAT FUCKING PIE IS AMAZING.
I'm not a food blogger or anything but that shit is amazing.

The Sampler
234 Starr St. Photo, BKMag.com, The Sampler
Time: Monday-Thursday open - 7pm.
Deal: Get the larger size for the price of the small.
Tab: 1 draft cider- $5
Vibe: The Sampler is a man cave. With slow jazz playing, every whiskey you could ever dream of, and a tv that's on sports, The Sampler is a boyfriends dream spot. Ladies, they threw in hot bartenders so you won't mind taking him here every one in a while.
Boozeworthiness: This bar can be your booze grocery and your new favorite whiskey bar. They even have cool events happening all the time. Downside is the size. Which I think is a good thing cause this bar could get real bro real fast. Luckily, it's a little haven for lovers of beer.
Long live day drinking!

Montana's Trail House.
Montana's Trail House 445. Troutman Street. Photo; Montana's Trail House Time: 4pm-5pm at the tables and 4pm-8pm at the bar. Deal: $2 off draft and well. Tab: 3 beers, 2 whiskey sours, 1 can cider, $16 Vibe: Pretty empty for a Friday night, but it's like zero degrees so there's that. Definitely good for big groups since the place as a ton of space. Southern vibe with nice Instagram ready wood grain. Boozeworthiness: Definitely somewhere I'd revisit. The early cut off at tables might make it a Plan C when it warmer and the place is packed.
overall, I had a good time and got a nice little buzz. Cheers to this happy hour. -BB.
The Rookery
425 Troutman St. Photo: The Rookery Time: EVERYDAY 12-8. YES. THIS INCLUDES WEEKENDS. 💃🏼💃🏼 Deals: MONDAY ONLY: $5 Mussles and half off select red and white bottles. 24/7/365: $4 well mix drinks, $5 house red and white and 1 dollar off drafts. Tab: (We went on a Monday) 1 bottle of red, 1 order of Mussles, 2 glasses of white wine, a burger, Mac & cheese, wings, and shepards pie, $77. 👊 (Split that 4 ways for a grand total of $19.25 before tax and tip.) Vibe: If you haven't been to The Rookery, you're definitely missing out. Not only is their patio amazing, but the horseshoe bar is a sight to see. The rookery definitely has the space you want for big groups, but doesn't sacrifice the intimacy some big groups may be looking for. The bar service/table service rule is pretty easy to understand and follow. (There's no table service until after 7 on weekdays.) The patio is something out of a ladies who lunch catalog, complete with whimsically placed shrubs. This is a great hangout/date spot/meeting place for all age groups in 'wick. The playlists changes to suit the clientele, so you can be carried off to Birdland one minute and swinging from the Chandelier the next. Boozeworthiness: Any place that will give you a bottle of wine for 15 dollars is somewhere I'd like to be more often. The wine was way better than I expected, and the food was great. Also, there's like eight entire hours of happy. 🙌 How can you not love that?! The only drawback was the speed of the food, but that's for a different blog to review. If you hit up the Rookery, let me know how you like it by tweeting or tagging not instagram. @boosybushwick. Stay boozy my friends.
