The late Jeffrey Catherine Jones, one of the great fantasy artists of all time, was born on this day in 1944. Jones, whom Frank Frazetta once called “the greatest living painter,” painted covers for over 150 paperback novels. Though not a prolific “comics” artist, Jones contributed the strip “I’m Age” to Heavy Metal during the ‘80s. This painting was done for the 1973 paperback edition of “Messenger of Zhuvastou” by Andrew J. Offutt.
