The hours wore on with cries of vigor and glee filling the castle halls as visitors from across all lands indulged themselves in the night’s festivities. It was all very well and fun to catch up with friends and neighbors alike, but eventually Ismaire could feel her attention slipping, her mind searching desperately for a means of escape from the constant chattering.

Things just weren’t quite what they used to be, she supposed. More likely than not she had just changed. In either case, a breath of fresh air would certainly help ease her spirits. She wandered quietly away from the party, excusing herself politely but otherwise unnoticed – or so she thought.

“Setsuna,” Ismaire greeted, taking the offered glass in hand. She hadn’t expected to run into anyone outside, but was glad that it was a friendly face that found her, at the very least. “I am, but wanted to take the opportunity to explore as well. Would you care to join me? I could use the company.”

She reached to link her arm with Setsuna’s. It seemed she wasn’t asking so much as she was insisting upon her company.

Lady Ismaire had left her little time to even consider the question before she looped her arm with hers. Not that it really mattered. Setsuna would have said yes to whatever Lady Ismaire asked her anyways, so she simply fell in step as the other woman guided her.

A tiny memory jumped to the back of her mind, of what had happened the last time someone had guided her off from a ball like this. She shrugged that memory off for now.

“I’ve been here a few times.” Setsuna mused without prompting as they walked. They air was a bit colder outside, without the heat from a large crowd. Setsuna had plenty of layers, so it didn’t bother her, but she wondered how Lady Ismaire felt about it. Setsuna supposed if the woman was uncomfortable she would make it clear.

“The gardens are nice. They have lots of pretty flowers.” She remembered Mitama gushing about them to Azama, though Setsuna was sure she was paying more attention than Azama was. “There’s a few benches there too that are pretty private if you need to rest.”

However minimal, there was interest expressed on the queen’s part. Charlotte’s eyes sparkled with what she hoped would be mistaken as nothing more than an innocent delight. There were steps to her fanciful little dance. And hooking that interest the first time was always so satisfying.

“Charlotte, my lady.” She answered, voice as soft as the expression she wore. “Of the Nohrian royal guard.” A humble position. Higher than her family’s routes, but not high enough to be intimidating. It was the first impression after all. Charlotte wanted the queen thinking of her as lovely as possible.

“And even as accomplished as you are, there’s no shame in self care. Allow me to escort you to your room, my lady. Meeting royalty, one should be as refreshed as possible, no?”

The strangest thing about arriving in Askr was not knowing, well, anyone. When Conrad had been summoned, he’d been so lucky as to find Anthiese was already there. Others didn’t have the same fortune. That strange man in purple still asked the summoner about a prince nearly every day.

When a new woman came to the castle, Conrad didn’t think much before walking over to her with a small wave and a sheepish smile.

He noted, with a strange feeling in his gut, she looked very similar to his mother. And with that revelation, a feeling - protectiveness? longing? perhaps regret - washed over him.

“I’m Conrad,” he said gently. “You?”

Knoll wasn’t a fan of the desert. It was too hot and his skin burned rather easily. Not to mention movement in the sands was difficult to say the least. Still, he’d heard Jehanna had some magic tomes that he hadn’t yet seen and he wanted at least a chance to see them.

So here he was, finding his way to ask the Queen Ismaire to ask to see these tomes. He wasn’t optimistic about his chances, but hopefully the most she could do was say no. Quietly, he walked into where he’d been granted his audience and bowed. “Your Majesty. Thank you for allowing me to meet with you today.”

Bittersweet | Eliwood & Ismaire

Dehydrated, exhausted, and lost. All three of those conditions were independently dangerous and Eliwood had managed to find himself in a situation encompassing all of them. While the scarlet knight had experience traversing in the difficult conditions deserts harbored, he had made critical miscalculations. The temperature had climbed far more quickly than he had anticipated, causing him to deplete his limited water supply at a greater speed. To conserve water he pushed his body farther with less hydration, tipping his body into an overheated state. Since he was operating his body in harsh conditions under such an energy deficit, it was no surprise he was utterly exhausted.

Despite the heat of the environment surrounding him, Eliwood refused to remove any more layers than he already had. He was well aware of the harmful effects sun’s rays and was clothed enough to protect his skin. His breathing was nothing more than panting, his heart rate elevated, but he continued on. After a while of travel, the sun’s position indicated it was nearing the evening. He observed the area around him through blurred vision, his brow furrowing in confusion. Have I passed this area before...? I’m beginning to lose sense of what is familiar and unfamiliar... I cannot determine any distinguishable landmarks to guide me.

He walked on, starting to feel as though he were perceiving the world through a strange haze. A dear friend’s words echoed in his mind: “...go on for too long and you’ll collapse.” He’s right. He reminded himself, feeling a dizziness come over him. I must find shelter and rest. Pray Elmine, give me strength... Despite knowing what he needed to do, Eliwood found himself unable to go on any further. Weariness overwhelmed him and he collapsed to the sands, losing consciousness.

😦 - what has been your worst roleplay experience

Answered just prior but here’s another: my old main haunt had these elusive god/guardian positions that occasionally opened up, and some years later I applied and finally managed to snag one– which I was super stoked for!

But I balanced it with the rest of my life really poorly, wrote a LOT but could never catch up anymore with all the extra threads, and got burnt out really bad, really fast s: that was probably the first time I took a semi extended complete break from RPing/from that community, which had been home for a long, long time qvq;

📼 - An interrogation tape emerges regarding a recent interview with your character. What are they being questioned for?

{Student Suitability Assessments; Candidate: SSFE20051104; Dargent, Seth}

The footage shows the inside of a police interrogation room. Its two occupants are a heavy set man in a neatly pressed sergeant's uniform whose lined face and thinning hair declare him middle-aged, and a young man in his twenties, impeccably groomed except for his unruly red hair. The sergeant begins, “Now, Seth, you understand that these interviews are a mandatory part of your certification exam, without which you will be unable to become fully certified to operate as an independent security contractor?”

Seth nods. “Yes, sir.”

“Do you also understand that the entirety will be filmed to ensure both parties adhere strictly to policy?”

Another nod. “Yes, sir.” The officer turns a page on the document in front of him. “Very well, then. Please state your full legal name, date of birth, and age at the time of this recording for the record.”

“My name is Seth Michael Ethan Andrew Dargent. I was born on the 18th of February, and I am 23 years old at the present.”

After a couple more establishing questions, the sergeant looks to his papers, shuffling them before continuing. “Have you ever been arrested for an offence of which you were not acquitted?” 

Seth’s lips pursed into a moody pout and he let out a soft sigh. “Yes, I have.”

“Would you please describe the incident in question for the record?”

“Roughly two years ago, while on midterm break from my classes, I went out for drinks with a few classmates. The past couple weeks had been particularly grueling and since we were all of legal age, we felt justified in rewarding ourselves with some celebratory drinking. Unfortunately, we began our adventure with little sleep and near empty stomachs, so the night spun out of control rather quickly.” He offered the officer a wry grin before continuing. “The more I drank, the less I believed it necessary to...uh, well, to keep my clothing on.” The clinical lighting of the setting made it easy to see the vibrant colour blossoming across his cheeks. Seth kept his gaze on his hands. “My companions began a rendition of a song from a musical in which we were all involved. It is unlikely we would have attracted much attention had I not decided to climb atop our table fully nude... I ended up charged with indecent exposure and my mother was called to collect me. Not my proudest moment...”

Some people don’t know how to give you space when you hint that you need it. They just keep pushing and hovering and gosh, do they stress me out.

😤 - what is your roleplay related pet peeve?

A lack of reciprocation. If you expect me to thread, put in the effort to give something to work with. I’m not going to carry you, it’s not fun for me.
