3) Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 23, give me line 17.
"[At her] father's request she had worn her most alluring gown, linen woven [so finely that it was all but sheer,]"
Um, for the record, this is . . . not really the kind of book it sounds like? Not that there's anything wrong with reading books where gowns are a major concern, it's just not really my thing. In this case the gown is absolutely a political move.
The book, btw, is The Shadowed Sun by N. K. Jemisin and so far it is fantastic. (It's the second one in a series, so don't anybody just go pick it up--you have to read The Killing Moon first.) If you have any interest in fantasy that happens in settings based on nonwhite cultures, with great female characters with lots of agency and different personalities, I cannot recommend this author enough.
4) What do you think about most?
At the moment, bilingual practices of code-switching and the social meanings attached to them. Because that is the subject of The Research Paper.
8) If you are outside, what are you most likely doing?
Running, probably. Or walking to/from class. I guess I don't get outside much. Sometimes that bothers me, because I do like nature and the outdoors. Other times I realize that inside/outside is a sort of arbitrary distinction to set so much value on and doesn't it matter more how you're spending that time, whether inside or outside?
15) How do you vent your anger?
Typing angry emails/textposts that will never be shown to anyone. Or running.
43) What's a song that always makes you happy when you hear it?
The 3-2-1 Penguins song.
58) You just got a free plane ticket to anywhere. You have to depart right now. Where are you gonna go?
To the UK! To see Caerleon, first and foremost. And all of Wales. Also Stonehenge. And the Globe. And the Roman ruins. And Scotland. (Is it cheating if I also take the chunnel to see Paris?)
i just felt the overwhelming need to come and tell you how wonderful you are and how much i love you. you are really really wonderful. and i love you.
oh god I think you're really wonderful and I love you too. Also, if I've failed to mention this before - YOU LOOK HELLA CUTE CONGRATS ON YOUR FACE.
