Cat Castles by Carin Oliver shows you how. We did this at my library as a program, great way to use up the cardboard boxes we get the books in, and the leftover yarn and fabric from other crafts.

Oh neat, I’ll check that out! What I desperately need is some kind of guide to how to cut cardboard cleanly -- no matter what blade I use or how hard I try it always looks raggedy and awful. I’ve tried everything from standard sharp scissors to a ruler and a scalpel, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

I did wonder at Hallowe'en, Sam, if you were going to put black, felt cutouts of eyes and a mouth on the orange sulk gourd. :D

my cats were super judgmental of me today because i didn't get out of bed until 3 pm. I woke up at 10, I just stayed in bed reading. They kept sitting in the doorway giving me twin looks of disapproval.

Oh see, mine love the bed. It’s their favorite place, especially when I turn on the pad to pre-heat the bed for sleeping. They want me to get up to fulfill the Ritual Of Getting Up In The Morning but if I get up and then go back to bed Polk gets SUPER EXCITED to come back to bed and sleep on my chest.

Who is behind this project? When AO3 was announced, I knew who a fair number of the people behind it were, which gave a level of trust. Who are you guys and what is your background that makes you the ones to make this sort of thing successful?

Given the current levels of toxicity in fandom, we don’t feel comfortable revealing our real life identities at this time, but one of the co-founders of Fanexus can be followed on twitter here. Our backgrounds are a mix of tech, academia and old school fandom (if you consider 15+ years old school).

And am I remembering this correctly that there is a deleted scene from his manuscripts where somehow Cosette is brought into Tholomyes’s wedding and recognizes him as her dad? Which she would only be able to do of course if he left at a time when she was old enough to remember and do so. I’ve always assumed she was around three at the time he left.

It's from the drafts, yeah! I hesitate to call it a Deleted Scene because that always sort of feels like implying that it's missing from some secret Director's Cut of les mis and NOPE , Les Mis is already the Director's Cut, Hugo put exactly what he wanted to put into that book and neither Rain Nor Snow Nor His Publisher Begging Him To Shut Up could stop him; Hugo,like most people who make huge long-term projects , played with and discarded a LOT of ideas on the way to his final version,.

But with that caveat XD Yeah, that scene is there! (Also, Magnon! Who was apparently going to be Involved way earlier in the story.) So the idea that Cosette was already born when he ditched was pretty constant, at least!

if you skipped ep 4 of bbc les mis, you missed the part where Grantaire said something that annoyed Enjolras, so Enjolras threw a chunk of cheese at him and Grantaire picked it up and ate it. It was Quality

jehnt how did i miss this this ask?? i never saw enjolras throwing the chunk of cheese at grantaire and i really CANNOT imagine how that conversation on set happened?? was the enjolras actor like “can i plz do this?” or did Andrew say “you should do this” OR was it an on the fly PEAK enjolras characterization??

hahaha yes. I moved on from Teen Wolf fandom long ago and have no idea what even some of the fandoms you are in ARE (something about a bunny and tiger? sounds like furry slash? there’s a keith and shiro, but that’s a different thing? no clue) but now we have converged again. this is why I don’t delete people I like, because ONE DAY we will share a fandom again

It always cracks me up to hear what people think about the other fandoms I’ve drifted into. XD

Keith and Shiro are from the show Voltron: Legendary Defender on Netflix, which was a remake on the original ‘80s Voltron series. It was a truly great show right up until the final season, which crapped the bed so thoroughly that most of us haven’t been able to go back and rewatch.

Tiger & Bunny has absolutely nothing to do with animals (I know, that was what I thought initially, too); it’s a superhero anime from 2011 about a veteran hero forced to team up with a hotshot rookie. I’ve got a longer explanation for the show both on Dreamwidth and here on Tumblr, but suffice it to say that much like Good Omens, T&B came into my life at a time when I desperately needed a show just like it. And perhaps the highest praise I can give is that I felt exactly the same way after finishing Good Omens as I did after finishing Tiger & Bunny, which explains why I have fallen so hard into both of these fandom pits.

And YES. I’m always happy to see longterm people on my dash, just to know that they’re doing well, but it’s so awesome to finally be sharing a fandom again. And thank you for all the A+ Good Omens stuff you’ve been putting on my dash! :-D

Like it’s always seemed to me like “people are terrible and violent and do terrible things and there’s no point to any of it in the end” has been the message all along?

I JUST THINK THAT’S SO DUMB THOUGH. Like I’m not saying you’re wrong lol this is probably accurate, I’m saying, if it is, then I don’t understand why ASOIAF even exists. What’s the point??? 5 maaaaaaassive novels, for what?

Like I feel like I’ve read books before where absurdism or nihilism or the inescapable suffering that is humanity were the entire point; life is meaningless, you can think you’re trying your best only to realize you’ve gone nowhere and accomplished nothing and then you die, etc. But they don’t have a structure that points to actual growth and change like ASOIAF does in 1 through 4, at least (I tend to just forget about Dance with Dragons tbh, even though I read it, so maybe that’s part of my problem lol)

When I read stuff like Kafka or Joseph Heller I didn’t feel TRICKED when everything turned out to be meaningless and nobody/nothing was fulfilled, you know what I mean? But if GRRM continues the canon at any point (big if), and it turns out like the show is turning out, I WILL feel tricked. Nothing about art is absolute and i supposed someone out there must see merit in reading 1.7 million words of characters you grow to genuinely care about fight so hard only to fail at the last minute, but I don’t!! I’ll never understand the value of something like that.

(I mean yeah that’s technically what happened to Frodo but YOU KNOW I’ve never cared for that detail either lol. These high fantasy dudes and their war books. WAR IS BAD. I GET IT.)

haha I saw MR twice and didn't even notice that the duke just left with no explanation

yeah it’s really weird. at least in previews christian at the end would say that the duke left paris and never returned but he no longer says that so the duke’s ending is even more abrupt. imo they should’ve at least had satine tell the duke she was dying to create some kind of dialogue which would’ve lead to a better ending (or exit?) for the duke instead of having the crap ending they have now for him lol.
