Moffat Appreciation Week 2018
Day 6: Favourite Underappreciated Work ↳ Jekyll
I think it's a love story. The key to (Jekyll's) journey is the love he has for his wife and the sense of loss he feels. We are fascinated by the notion of a dark side, and something within us that is suppressed, but at its heart this is a love story between a man and a woman.
A fast drop is sometimes a better drop, particularly with writing like Steven Moffat's. The words were so tight, if I'd been given Jekyll the week before I'd have probably come up with some of the same things.
Moffat's writing is inventive and dark and funny, and I thought Steven had retained enough of what I remembered about the original story to grab people's attention, but also the updating was smart.

Don't be funny, don't be scary. Gotcha.
