Shakey's V-league is different from UAAP. But UAAP will never be the same without Ateneo's one and only, Fab 5. Continue striving Jem Ferrer, A Nacachi, Dzi Gervacio, Gretchen Ho & Fille Cainglet :)

"Just A Dream" My ADMU Personal Essay :):
PERSONAL ESSAY
ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY
"Are there any significant experiences you have had, or accomplishments you have realized that have helped to define you as a person?"
Defining a person doesn't neccesarily mean that they have to satisfy someone's set of standards. It is not based on the things that others can do and the things that you can't.
As a person, there are insecurities that you may feel when you see other people who are better than you. And in my case, it happened a lot of times.
Since I was a kid, I had this low self esteem of myself. I have this thinking that I can't do anything good mainly because I don't excel in anything.
But as time pass by, I realized that I am also capable of something. And that ability is important not just to me but also to other people.
At the age of 15, I never thought that some sport would be so important to me that if ever I would pass a certain university, it is a requirement for myself that I must be a varsity player in that university.
I am a Varsity Player in Volleyball since 1st year high school, even up to now. And before, I thought that Volleyball is just a simple game and that it is just for fun.
I became more interested in Volleyball when I first watched UAAP Season 73 Women's Volleyball when I was a 2nd year high school student. The first ever volleyball player that I really admired was Gretchen Ho of the Ateneo Lady Eagles. I got addicted to volleyball and at the same time with Gretchen.
Whenever we will have our PE Time, I would always encourage my other classmates to come and join me in playing volleyball so that we will form 6 members per team. And then, I would say that, "Pag ako nag college, magiging katulad ako ni Gretchen Ho!" I really don't care what other people might say about me. What matters most that time is that I love volleyball, I enjoy the game and I'm willing to learn more just to be like Gretchen Ho.
The more I learn, the more I think that I can achieve my goal. And that is to be a member of the Ateneo Lady Eagles someday. We trained really hard in order to be qualified. I enjoyed training volleyball but it's really difficult.
I had this instance wherein I am close to quitting volleyball just because I would notice that I am the slowest of all the members and that I really can't jump high. For me, that was the biggest hindrance I had during training.
That's why I had to find another inspiration. I continued watching every UAAP game that was shown on television. And that time, I was 3rd year high school already.
During our PE time, you would never see me spike or even dig a ball. Instead, you would find me tossing a ball on a wall. I would consume all my time doing that thing infront of a wall. And then one time, when we played volleyball, I find myself just tossing the ball that my other teammates would receive. And that time, I know what my position was. A setter.
They say, without a setter, there wouldn't be any veteran spikers on the team. The setter is the brain of the court. That person is skilled to be tactful and to be clever enough to think of ways where the other team wouldn't be able to receive the ball well, atleast.
And when I started the role of being a setter on the team, I somehow relate myself to one of the best setters that UAAP Season had ever produced. It is none other than, Jem Ferrer of the Ateneo Lady Eagles.
All of my friends-slash-teammates would say, "Alam mo para kang si Jem. Hindi naman siya mataas tumalon. Tapos medjo pareho pa kayong di naman masyadong payat, pero ang galing niyong mag set."
Being a setter is the most difficult task that you would do as a player. Not all volleyball players can set. And I am blessed that I have the ability to set for my teammates and to help other spikers to be the best they can be.
Now I can conclude that, Insecurities and other people are not a hindrance to achieving what we want. As I get older, I also discover things that before I didn't even thought I can do. If we want something then we must do all possible ways of getting it. We must take the risk if needed. And as for me, I know someday, I will also achieve my very own dream.
*I DID NOT PASS ACET. But that wouldn't stop me from dreaming. :)*

For the love of the game
Unfinished business
...Lady Spiker Jem Ferrer shares Gab’s sentiments, as she sets out on her last year in collegiate volleyball.
“Sayang (It’s a shame),” she says on their loss to La Salle in their first trip to the finals. Ferrer, a setter for the Lady Spikers, shares that her love for the sport compelled her to return for a final year.
Ferrer, alongside batchmates Gretchen Ho, Angeline Gervacio, Fille Cainglet and Aillysse Nacachi are all returning for one last run in the UAAP this season...
