Jemcon 2020 “in-person” has been cancelled
With very heavy hearts, the staff has decided that we will be officially cancelling the in-person part of JemCon 2020, due to the associated health risks and travel disruptions caused by the CoronaVirus pandemic. (Our tentative plan for 2021* is farther below.)
If you have already registered for JemCon 2020, we are reaching out to you individually via email with detailed options for transferring or refunding your registration.
So what will happen on the original August 26-28 dates of JemCon 2020? The JemCon 2020 staff is exploring virtual convention possibilities! We still have our confirmed special guests, Christy Marx and Carla Reis, available as virtual guests-- plus, our super-special-secret media premiere/Q&A can be virtual, and we’re working on ways to present more of our traditional content.
The upside is that JemCom 2020: Virtual Jem Jam will be our chance to unite a more diverse and inclusive crowd of Jem fans than ever before possible!

*Our current plan is to postpone JemCon in Minneapolis until 2021. At this time, we are hammering out the new contract, to be held at the same site. Further details and dates will follow as soon as we have them!
Will it be safe to gather in larger groups by fall of 2021? No one knows yet. But we will make plans and adjust as new information and data are factored in. Love will show the way!

Carla Reiss is the woman behind many of the iconic fashions on the Jem toy line. She credits Jem to helping get her into middle design management back in the mid-eighties. She worked on both soft doll and plush items and later became a real-life Jerrica Benton as a Design Director with seven designers working under her. Her team worked on all the fashions marketed under the Hasbro and Playskool brands (including all the Jem fashions!) She and her husband (who was the Senior Design Director for boys’ toy design at Hasbro) left to pursue their own design services business, Reiss Design Associates, which continues to this day. Together they have done toy designs for numerous companies and projects, including American Girl, Disney, Rugrats, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Simpsons, Sesame Street and more. She is very excited to be attending her very first JemCon and can’t wait to meet all the truly outrageous fans. (source)

Welcome to the JemCon 2020 Fan Fiction Contest! We have an opportunity for you to put your creativity to the test. The JemCon team is very excited to receive your stories. Dates This year's fanfic contest will be open from March 1st, 2020 to May 31st, 2020.
Theme Jem, Riot, and Pizzazz have been asked to star in a comic melodrama performed on a historic Mississippi riverboat (like the recently retired Minnesota Centennial Showboat,) and their various bandmates get up to things, of course.
The original story you submit should be set in Minneapolis or the surrounding Minnesota area.
Your story should include Jem, Pizzazz, and Riot. Other characters can be included, and what happens on this journey is up to you, but these three must make an appearance somewhere in your story.
Your fanfic must also include the following elements:
A showboat The Mississippi river A moustache
