bruce & natasha? or, if you've already been asked those two, rhodey?
Thank yooou, I haven’t been asked either of these two yet soI’ll do them for you now.
Bruce Banner: Ravenclaw
This one I think is fairly straightforward (look! I’m notmaking life unnecessarily difficult for myself! Gold star to me!) but noseriously, I think he exemplifies a lot of the Ravenclaw characteristics.Intelligence is just, well he’s a genius it sort of goes part and parcel doesn’tit?
But he’s not a lazygenius if you catch my drift? He doesn’t take his intelligence for granted andI don’t think it’s something that he thinks is utterly innate in him either, it’ssomething that he hones, something that he shapes, something that he practicesand tries to better every day and that drive, that thirst for knowledge, thatthirst to understand is what really makes him belong in this house I think.
He’s always seeking to understand things, I have so manyheadcanons about young Bruce (and actually Bruce now too, to the Avenger’sfrustration because they can’t make toast at three o’clock in the morning, largely because Bruce has gotten bored and taken it to bits just for the simplepleasure of then putting it back together again, only he didn’t /quite/ getthat far with it) but he’s always wanted to, been driven to, really, understandhow things work and I think he also seeks to push boundaries in this regard inthe name of understanding more which means that this pursuit of knowledge issomething that can take precedence over everything else. He fixates, heobsesses, he tries to learn not justbriefly he tries to learn everything he possibly can from what’s availablealready and when that material runs out he tries to create his own.
I think Bruce is also actually fairly wise (maybe creatingthe Hulk wasn’t entirely wise but youknow, that was unintentional and comes under the pushing the boundaries in thepursuit of knowledge heading anyway) but I think his stance on things tends tobe rooted in something a bit deeper than surface concerns or observations. He thinksdeeply about things and he draws subtle, telling conclusions from them; Loki’splans in Avengers, his jab at Tony which was correctly identified by Bruce andUltron as well, figuring out that he wants to evolve and deducing from that he’swith Helen Cho. Maybe not wisdom exactly but I think insight and he’s morecautious about certain things than his other team members which again points ata certain wisdom.
Getting slightly into the realms of headcanon but I thinkBruce is quite creative generally. I think he enjoys making things whether itbe an android they now call Vision or scrambled eggs on toast, he enjoysproducing things. I think he’s a good cook and I also think he’s fairly musicaleven if it’s not something he pursues hugely in sight of anyone else (damn thatpiano noir fic it’s skewed me so) either way, this fits with Ravenclaw too.
Just, all in all, Bruce is, as far as I can tell, the posterchild for Ravenclaw house and I love it.
Natasha Romanoff:Slytherin
Nat is much much harder to place than her (only slightly) dorkierhalf because there are so many sides to her (not that Bruce is a 2 dimensionalpaper chain but you know, he is a lot more grounded in his fundamentals, themessy stuff is the emotional part) Nat however I can make an argument as aHufflepuff but in the end I think I come down on Slytherin overall.
For a start I think she’s certainly cunning and manipulativeas well as resourceful. These are all really big traits and they’re all deeplyingrained in her work as a spy and the reason that she’s so good at it. Whenfaced with a knot she doesn’t untangle it or chop through it with a dagger shejust runs around it and confuses it until it undoes itself (okay terribleanalogy, I’m sorry) but she’s not a soldier, or a battle-hardened warrior oranything like that, she has a very specific skillset that she is very acutelyaware of that she uses to her full advantage whenever and however she can.Natasha doesn’t have that chivalric sort of, well stupidity is what I think she’dcall it that would make her fight honourably and lose; instead she fights theway she knows best, with manipulation and strategy and cunning and so she wins, each and every time.
I think there’s also a kind of cold logic and pragmatism toher as well that marks her out as a Slytherin. That little debate she has withSteve ‘everyone up here versus everyone downthere’ Steve wants to save everyone, Natasha’s strategy based brain has alreadykicked in and decided that this isn’t going to work; she’s very much a biggerpicture thinker in general and the way this manifests itself is generally in calculateddecisions most of the other houses wouldn’t make in times of peril.
As a final note she’s incredibly incredibly loyal to her little Avengers family (including andencompassing Nick) and I think there’s a certain sense of, not quite debt andnot quite duty here but she knows what these people have done for her, thechances they took with her and the chances they gave her and that’s somethingthat she remembers, that she’ll remember until her dying day. It’s loyalty that’searned, not blind faith. These people trusted her with their lives; she truststhem in turn and she’d die for them even as they would die for her.
Send me characters and I’ll tell you which Hogwarts house Ithink they belong in.
Bruce!
Thank you Sian! ^_^
1: sexuality headcanon: Ooh, I’ve never actually thought about this before in detail. In saying that I have come round to the headcanon of him (and Nat for that matter) both being ace and romantically wise a little confused, largely hetero but not completely ruling anything else out by any stretch of the imagination. 2: otp: Bruce and Nat, (shockingly) 3: brotp: Bruce/Tony and Bruce/Steve and basically Bruce/his little Avengers group. 4: notp: Bruce/sadness. other than that I can’t actually think of anything I’m strongly against? 5: first headcanon that pops into my head: he smells like pear drops :) also his lab looks totally scatterbrained, there doesn’t appear to be all that much order to it, and maybe there isn’t, but there’s a certain order to it for him and he knows where everything is and doesn’t approve of it all being moved to the side so you can sit on my workbench Ms Romanoff. 6: favorite line from this character: either “That’s my secret Cap, I’m always angry’ because tiny glimmer of acceptance and what a wonderful hero moment or ‘we’re not a team, we’re a timebomb’ because I just enjoy that whole speech and I think it lends a little insight into, well, his insightfulness which is also good. 7: one way in which I relate to this character: I too am a giant green rage monster (more seriously I relate to Bruce in a few ways, but a big one that jumps out is his non-confrontational side and his desire to just keep the peace, you know that line in Avengers that little *hand waving* ‘I just want to do my work’ well Tony and Steve are bickering. that would be me) 8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: nothing really (i’m so boring at answering this question and usually I get second hand embarrassment at the drop of a hat but not with my children) 9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? he is a large fuzzy cinnamon roll and I won’t hear a word against that interpretation.
Me: [Asks 12 word question]

brightsunshinesmiles replied to your post: Enjoy your holiday! I have a rule when I go away, which is to not check Facebook, tumblr, Twitter, etc, until I get back - have a proper break! I figure if anyone has an emergency, they’ll call me. it’s actually really nice :)
Weirdly enough I was actually thinking about this today! I’ve set up a queue for my blog (I’ve gone completely overboard and put 150+ posts in it), so it’ll run pretty much by itself. I might go cold turkey for a week and not come online at all. As you said, I think it’ll be really nice to take a break from the online world :) I’ll see how I feel when I get there. What a good rule to have though! And thanks so much lovely <3
