wip ask: masquerade ranpoe, or the "beat up lionfang" outfit
you get to hear about BOTH but i will start with masquerade ranpo
currently titled 'let the spectacle astound you' (though we'll see if that sticks), the ranpoe vampire au wip is hopefully going to be part of a larger little au i'm calling midnight masquerade that is mostly about Vibes and Vampirism. in this one, the first conceived, ranpo and poe meet at a vampire masquerade, and ranpo decides to fuck around and very much finds out. or, as i have written in my notes app, 'play risky games, earn questionable prizes'.
(poe is a vampire, ranpo is a human, you can probably guess what this equation adds up to.)
i really want to push the atmosphere of the setting in the piece and the narration is fighting me, but i'm hoping to work on it again soon; i think if i switch from ranpo as the pov to poe as the pov it will go much better.
then once THAT'S done i can write the piano man/lippman/iceman one, which is also going to be very fun for me
lionfang is a FANTASTIC antagonist and i hate him so much. he's the hero of his own story, he's a presumed paragon gone too far, a champion of 'good' with an ends justifies the means approach who has swung back around into doing evil because he believes it is necessary and just and right (it is not.) i want to beat him with hammers.
and so does the hero! but if they're going to beat lionfang with hammers, they're going to do it in style, while ALSO stealing his motif, for funsies.
titled 'leonine regalia', after the armor set of the same name, this little story follows the hero's journey to acquire an outfit Specifically For Beating Up Lionfang, and then lionfang's reaction when the hero wears his own motif better
and the hero WILL be wearing the leonine regalia bc it is perfect and also grinding for it in game was a bitch bc of the drop rate for the necessary items when i wore it to beat up lionfang myself.
and then look at this guy.
clearly the hero wears it better. and is going to rub it in his face. and it's going to be very fun for me, *if i can just get the words to go*.
