I have to disagree. The boys stylists are mediocre and make the boys look ridiculous. They're rewarded for keeping whatever fucked up secrets the band has by half arsing their clothing choices & make up. Louis' face was five different shades of orange tonight. He looked terrible.
I mean, it’s fine if you disagree. And I’m more concerned with the overall styling choices than the makeup. (And in my opinion their makeup has only been noticeably bad on one or two occasions, and I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe was the result of being rushed and/or poor lighting. It happens.) I didn’t happen to notice that Louis’ makeup was bad, but also, how do we even know whose fault that was ? Lmao we know the boyfriends like to go fake tanning….
I think my main point is that there’s not much we can do about it and it annoys me to no end when I see people criticizing their stylist for putting Louis in a “t shirt” when that top is Lanvin, it’s high fashion, and he looks good in it. (Have you seen Justin Bieber lately ? At least Louis isn’t wearing that.) I also saw someone say that Niall was wearing “a Harry jacket” tonight which, okay, wasn’t everyone complaining last week about how Harry stands out too much in the group ? Now Niall wears something that stands out a little and people don’t like that either.
We’re not going to love how they look all the time, I understand that, but it bothers me when people tell Lou to quit her job or put their complaints all over Ellie’s instagram. Because no one ever has any constructive criticism. It’s always “they looked ugly in this” or “why is Harry wearing that” or “you can’t do makeup” (obviously not true as she’s made a career of it). I don’t really expect this behavior to change because this fandom loves to complain. I think it’s also been encouraged because Lou is problematic for other reasons, so people started criticizing the way she does her job as well.
I won’t claim to know whether or not they’re “rewarded for keeping secrets”, but I’m sure they’ve all signed NDA’s. That’s not even a question.
But I disagree that the job they do is half-arsed, in general; I think if you look at the past year they’ve looked fine the majority of the time. As I said in my post, I’d like the fans who complain to step in and see if they can do a better job. I just don’t think a lot of them even understand the reality of what they’re complaining about, and I don’t think it’s appropriate, even though it’s common, for fans to say that they need to replace their entire team or that they should all quit. Realistically, styling is not the choice of the stylist alone. It is a combination of the image they want to portray (i.e. that Louis is sporty, Harry is fashionable/posh, etc.) which is up to their PR team, the stylists, and the boys themselves. I just think people lay too much blame in the wrong place and that the majority don’t know what they’re talking about.
To me it’s just another case of people hiding behind a computer and “calling out” people they’ve never met, when in reality the styling choices made by their team are not that bad, most of the time.
You’re entitled to your opinion, obviously. I’m sure everyone has different thoughts on the situation. I guess I’m mostly annoyed by the personal attacks on the people who work with them. I just don’t think that kind of hate is necessary or deserved, and it makes the fans sound really petty and entitled when they think that they know more about the situation than the professionals who work with them do.
