Jennifer Steinkamp: Dervish (2004)
Watch "Jennifer Steinkamp, Blind Eye, 1" on YouTube
Jennifer Steinkamp shows the importance of time in her work, where she depicts the changing seasons and life cycles. The video instillations do not have a beginning, middle, or end, they are a continuous loop.
Blind Eye, is a series of animations inspired by the front view of a dense forest of birch trees. As the trees sway (sometimes quite violently) the leaves fall like a gentle rain.
There is an impression that this may refer to the changing seasons, but the continuous loop & instillation removes it from this context.

For last year’s words belong to last year’s language And next year’s words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning.
