I do know that garlic and onion will give cats strokes (in large quantities I'm sure, but I avoid it anyways to be safe), and human grade tuna simply doesn't have added vitamins and taurine that cats need, so it needs to be supplemented elsewhere. Mine get scrambled eggs at least once a month for a healthy coat though!
Well, it’s not like the suggestion is to feed a cat a diet of only tuna and garlic. Everything in moderation.
I will preface this again by saying that I do not use garlic for pest control, I use the Seresto collar and Heartgard and am very happy with the results of those. However, it does amuse me that garlic is so controversial because “it’s poison”, when literally all pesticides are poison. That’s what they do. They are a dose of poison that is high enough to kill pests but low enough to be relatively safe for animal use. I’ve had animals that had lifethreatening reactions to frontline, cats included, and Creed’s cousin almost died from a reaction to frontline and then again to a dose of ivermectin prescribed by a vet.
I don’t say this to vilify pest control products. I use them on my own animals, because the (relatively low) risk of an adverse reaction is worth the prevention of lyme disease, tapeworm, and heartworm to me. However, I think it is a little ironic that we dose our animals monthly with literal poison and then turn around and judge someone who is using an alternate method because “that’s poisonous!!”. Moderation and dosage matter. I will not judge someone using garlic or DE so long as they understand the risk they are taking and the dosage concerns.
As for the tuna, the original post said that tuna is toxic to cats. It’s not. It’s not good to feed only tuna, especially human grade tuna, longterm. Cats, just like dogs, need variety in their raw diets to have a total source of essential vitamins and minerals at their disposal. You cannot get that all from just one food source- but that doesn’t mean that you can’t ever give them a bit of tuna.
Though a warning regarding eggs- always feed the whole egg if you feed raw eggs. Otherwise you have one part of the egg that binds avidin (but contains biotin) and one part that binds biotin (but contains avidin). Feed both egg and yolk to balance it out and prevent nutrient deficiencies.
Holistic pet care can be hit and miss as far as real science backing it, but I will say that it takes a lot of dedication and knowledge to be sure that you’re not fucking up your pet in the effort to use more natural methods. I am not completely holistic in my approach but I did learn a lot about this sort of thing while waiting for my litter to appear.
aaah you are the best.
It's time to spoil this bb like mad. 8D ♥

That happened to me too. I actually cried because I was already in a bit of a dark place when she moved out. D:
Yeah, I was stressed out and feeling sick and missing my bird and when Pierce left I was just like "AXI IS DEAD AND PIERCE IS GONE AND NEITHER OF THEM ARE EVER COMING BACK" and I cried.
And then I swore off Animal Crossing forever.
