So obviously you've been posting about DUTP and I've been tempted to get into it, so: what's your advice for starting out?

Okay, first off: gotham memoirs is my favorite book. Do Not start with Gotham Memoirs. The crafting is difficult and it took me over a month to finish. I think they changed the 3 book options you can start with, it used to be Magic Lamp, Gotham Memoirs, and Queen Marie, but I think one of those is replaced with Tang Dynasty Hunter now? I enjoyed Tang Dynasty Hunter and Magic Lamp (TDH has merman and repressed soldier bfs and I love them both and ML has Chapur who is a romance option in my heart) Anyway, they're good and not bad as beginning stories, definitely recommend doing them early on as opposed to some harder ones, but Queen Marie is the one that's really designed as a beginner story to ease you into the game.
Another thing I think beginners don't realize a lot is that you can't borrow required clothing. Each stage has a clothing score required to pass and a few particular stages have required pieces of clothing you have to craft to start the stage. There's a shared closet mechanism where you can borrow clothing from your friends with the right tags for the stage, but it doesn't work on required clothing pieces. (It does work for event stages though.) The discords are a good place to find clothing pieces or cats you're looking for.
One of the things I personally recommend is hoarding resources. This doesn't apply as much starting out, since you'll need them then, but they've added events where using stamina or spending diamonds gets you extra rewards, or where gold tickets get you higher rated items, so I save those up for the events, because they happen pretty regularly. Again on the discord, but the official one announces upcoming events there before they appear in game.
One of the things I like about TP is it's very playable without spending money. You can get through all the stories without buying anything. They've been getting slightly worse about that for events recently, but all the stories are unlocked just by doing more stages and earning tickets. So don't feel pressured by those, it's mostly for particular pretty dresses.
There's a couple really good resources out there for the game. There's a reddit and also a wiki, which is helpful especially for the older stories, where they have transcripts and guides to the story options.
If you're on discord, they have an official discord that's linked in the game where they do event/maintenance announcements and host interviews with the story creators which is fun. They have some cool concept art!
There's also the Royal Tea Cafe, which is unofficial but also open to everyone, and they host guides to all the stories, which are a lifesaver if you're stuck on some of the harder ones.
AND @aicosu hosts a nsfw time princess discord with excellent people, highly recommend.
I'm trying to think what else you should know starting out. The starting story is the biggest thing. The game is pretty good about introducing the different aspects, and the discords are great resources if you get confused about anything. If anyone in the tag has suggestions, please jump in!
