keeping it public I want to say that you're right and maybe its just my unconditional love for them that is making me act in denial but the hurt im getting from this is really overwhelming to the point that even tumblr isn't a safe place anymore but we must focus on BLM, its true that artists are showing their true colors now and even people in general but we have worst things to worry about right now instead of focusing on our kpop boys/girls that aren't using their platform for a good cause
first of all i hope you’re taking regular breaks from social media if you’re getting overwhelmed. its also been stressing me out so please take breaks!!
my issue with your response is that by calling out bts’s silence we are focusing on BLM. they have branded themselves as artists who speak about social issues and racism is a social issue!!! they fact that bts even built their initial brand on being a hiphop group (a genre created by black people) makes their position even worse imo because then they’ve just been using black music/culture for the aesthetic and disregarding the history behind that music. namjoon and yoongi are very educated individuals (especially namjoon, i really expected more from him) they know the power their platform has. do you know how many people would start donating/signing petitions if they tweeted a link? look at ariana grande, halsey, wale, dylan o’brien, kehlani and beyonce - most who are individuals they have interacted with/look up to. if bts want to be seen as international worldwide artists, they need to be able to use their platform accordingly. additionally, they are UN ambassadors.....why the silence? why can’t they just direct their fans to donate/sign petitions (i hate 2 say it but do you know how many armys would donate if bts said here’s a link????) im not angry at them im just immensely disappointed that they have decided to not use their huge platform do to good for others.
also in general, anyone who wants to use the “what about other kpop groups” argument i wont allow that. as a fandom you have all screamed about btspop to the ends of the world. bts are not like other kpop groups, their influence and platform is MUCH greater. we all know this. they are not only korean artists, they are international artists with an international platform and they need to start acting accordingly. their silence is part of the problem.
