We’re always accustomed to reading the Bible from man’s viewpoint. Why do we need Christ to be our righteousness? Because we’re unrighteous. But this is not the viewpoint of God. God’s viewpoint is from the viewpoint of His economy.
We need Christ to be our righteousness so that God’s economy can be fulfilled. We need Christ to be everything to us for the fulfillment of God’s eternal economy. Whenever we read any book of the Bible, we need to pick up the viewpoint of God’s economy, since the entire Bible is a revelation of the eternal economy of God. We need our mind renewed to gain God’s view and stay in this view as we read the whole Bible.
Apparently Jeremiah is a book concerned with Israel’s sin and wickedness and with God’s chastisement of Israel. Actually this is not the case. The book of Jeremiah, like the Bible as a whole, was not written for this purpose. The Bible, including the book of Jeremiah, was written for God’s economy. It was written to show us that God wants to be increased, to be enlarged, in order to have a fullness for the expression of Himself.
