Jack was one of the few people at work that day, and he had stayed up much later than he'd intended the night before. His grogginess didn't affect the quality of his work, but it certainly affected his appearance. When a man walked up to the counter as Jack was placing a pie in the display case, it actually startled him. "Oh, sorry. Didn't see you there. How can I help you?"

A New Friend to Fix

Cannon had wanted to ask a few more questions, but the woman, Tessa, had rushed off the phone. She seemed nice enough though, and if she was a friend of Aaron and Destin he felt pretty confident in trusting her. It didn't take him long to make the trip over. He paused at the door to double check the address, then knocked firmly. 

Tessa jumped up from the couch at the knock. She had been trying to soothe Jeremy's slightly bruised ego. He was still hanging off the arm of the couch. She bent down to kiss his forehead. "Play nice. He only wants to help make you feel better." In a flash she was opening the door and reintroducing herself. She pointed back at her husband. "This is Jeremy. Jeremy, Cannon. Cannon, Jeremy."
