Excited to find another community just across the bridge, on our way out to a main road that leads to yet another community up another hill. Engaged with an elderly local after we bought some cheese balls and drinks. Loving the Nepali elderly. Everywhere we go, they are the ones who'll give you an eager greeting even if they don't actually know you. Your smiles easily get repaid. Missing our own mommies and daddies in #JubilantBelievers back home, who were always very encouraging to Paul as he starting in the ministry. We tried to cross the footbridge over the Bagmati River to go up Manjushree Park but it was closed... Engaged with a local with our very very limited Nepali vocabulary (let's say about 5-10 words! After passing through a community just outside Bhaisepati, we saw the Bagmati Bridge from afar and the Manjushree Park across the Jal Binayak Temple. The old world, provincial feel was a welcome respite from the busy and crowded city. By this time too, although it was 9 degrees, we were sweating after having walked for almost an hour. Alas! The locals looked at us with mixed reactions. It's probably not everyday they see a baby in fluffy pink ensemble... rocking the rugged, dusty and uphill terrain in a stroller... in a road travelled by buses and high-powered motorbikes. This decade-old Graco stroller proved itself anew today. Our Jericho walk that turned into a Jericho trek. Going farther than we've gone to before so we see more of our community. After 15,000 steps, 8.2 km, 3.5 hours of trekking over 2 hills, crossing over 2 rivers, with 1 baby in her trusty stroller, we finished our Jericho walk today! Hallelujah! We still couldn't believe we did it. What an adventure! We remember our senior pastor Shoddy saying before that even if all you do as you step into a nation is pray, you'd have already brought change to the nation. Amen, Father!
