July 5th, 1979: Diagon Alley, Edgar and Barty, "Teenagers Scare The Living Shit Out Of Me"
There weren't many things that could get Edgar out of bed and down Diagon Alley hours before he was actually due to begin work, but Order work was one of them. The attack on the poor young muggleborn girl - Susan Montgomery, Edgar remembered her name was - by a group of idiot students home for the holidays had shocked many. Death Eaters had done some gastly stuff over the years as they emerged as a threat to the wizarding world, but having children follow their example was just...sick. To tell the truth, Edgar was pretty disgusted by it too. But he was more angry at the Death Eaters than at the youngsters that had committed the crime. It was just plain sad when kids mimicked the behaviour of delusional adults.
Dumbledore had said that they should try to find information. It was no secret that the old bloke cared a lot about the kids who called Hogwarts home. Not much disturb Albus Dumbledore, but Edgar reckoned that an attack on one of his students by other students was such to be on that short list. Edgar intended to help him fix it. Maybe, just maybe, they could catch the dumb kids before they did something even more stupid or ended up letting someone tattoo snake-mouthed skulls onto their arms. Which was why here he was, at Diagon Alley hours before his shift, wondering how the hell he was gonna coax some information out of another student. He figured they'd be the ones to ask - it was difficult to keep secrets to yourself at school, even when it was holidays and you weren't even actually at school.
"Hey kid!" He called out to a surly looking lad who was walking past. The boy didn't look as if he'd be happy to have a chat, but he was the first Hogwarts age looking youth that he'd seen. "Can I ask you a question? Won't be long, I promise."
