Jerome Moreau
Chest: For many years Jerome lived with his destiny, feeling no anger or regret about it, with no desire to reverse the mutations. Long had he felt his father’s scheming shadow. So when professor Moreau lured him to Toussaint with a contract, he decided to put an end to this charade. Jerome confronted professor Moreau in 1121. After imprisoning the witcher using a paralyzing spell, he proceeded with mad and reckless experiments to free his son from the witcher’s mutations. Utterly ignoring his son’s contrary pleas for mercy. This process was not mild. Not at all. Brought to the brink of death on many occasions, he rose every time faster and stronger than before. And more… mutated. As a result of old Moreau’s experiments and in spite of his determination, Jerome became less and less human. Until the eighth day of autumn in 1122, the professor finally gave up. He collected his notes and closed his laboratory. As for the remains of his failed subject... He just burnt them, unwilling to face what he had done ever again.
Scroll 1: In 1087, after saving professor Tomas Moreau, a witcher demanded that which the scholar already had, but did not know of. From this day forward, Jerome, son of Tomas, became one of the children bound by the Law of Surprise.
Scroll 2: A few years later, the witcher came for young Jerome to take him to Kaer Seren, the home of the School of the Griffin. The boy was subjected to the usual physical training and mutations necessary to forge a witcher. Yet the process seemed mild to him as if he was particularly well suited for it.
Scroll 3: As a result, he mostly resembled an ordinary man, leaving only his silver sword and Griffin medallion to prove the contrary. Strangers and friends alike treated him better than the average witcher, with many failing to realize the fact that a mutant stood before them.
Scroll 4: Unfortunately, extraordinary resistance was to become Jerome's undoing. For professor Moreau did not forget about his lost son, keeping him under constant observation. His normalcy led to his father’s belief that the mutations could still be reversed.

Title challenge (for the Witcher): What the Dawn Brings
You have the dubious honour of naming the possible Jerome/Serrit fic continuation, because the vibes are chef’s kiss impeccable.
It’s a few days after Jerome’s escape from imprisonment, and Serrit has brought them to the foot of the Amell Mountains, where they found the furnished cave of one of the Belhaven Bears. The small one, Serrit specified, because apparently there’s two of them now. It’s as cozy, as a dusty cave can get, with vines and moss covering the entrance, light barely penetrating the dark. Jerome honestly prefers it that way. His eyes are hypersensitive from years in captivity and mutagenic torture, and his newly developed built-in night light - courtesy of the foglet genes - wouldn’t allow for total darkness anyway.
For the moment Serrit is away, slipped away into the rainy night to hunt; for deer, bird, or hare, Jerome honestly doesn’t have a preference. Food is food is food. After one was deprived of it for so long, even the bottom of a boot looks appetizing.
Jerome has time for some self-reflection, of coming to terms with the changes in himself (thoughts that he has so far put away into a mental box, locked away tightly; he had no need to think about them without a future), wondering about his relationship with Serrit, with the Griffins.
It’s tough. But not so tough, when his viper finally comes back at dawn, with skinned meat in hand and understanding patience glinting in slitted pupils.

I’m hyperfixating on witcher lore this month,.,.,. gimme the happy hormones mhmmmhmmn
Kaer Seren
Kaer Seren’s literary collection was its greatest treasure and the envy of a group of overzealous mages. In their attempt to seize it for themselves, they destroyed the very thing they desired most.
Located at the sea end of a mountain range in Kovir and Poviss.
Reaching Kaer Seren by land proved too daunting a task for most. The locale also provided the residents of Kaer Seren access to seafaring traders, ensuring they were always well-supplied. Armed with crossbows, a secured position, and a reliable source of provisions, the Griffins remained ready and capable to repel any assault.
Nevertheless, not a single soldier was prepared to fight an avalanche unleashed by the Council of Mages.
