THE SAME 5 QUESTIONS with JEROME LOVE

Q: Where are you right now? A: Out on a horse ranch in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, decompressing from the tradeshow madness and a 2000 mile motorcycle trip we call Road to Freedom Hall. Q: Where did you grow up? A: I was raised in Sacramento, California, the state capital no one knows of and anyone who’s from there is usually trying to get out, but I think it’s a great city, and kind of going through a little revival right now. 

I was fortunate to grow up skating with some amazing friends many who I still talk to everyday but I moved out to Oakland/Berkeley for school and I’d say that’s where I really “grew up” I think if I end up back in California, Oakland is where I wanna be.

Q: What do you do for a living – what are your hobbies – how closely do these two overlap? A: That’s a hard one, I just started (literally yesterday) with Parelli Natural Horsemanship as Brand Strategist / Creative Thought Partner, which translates to everything from guidelines to photography to short films and creative content, but I’m also the photographer for The Brooklyn Circus and do creative consulting for small brands.

I’ve always had a ton of interests and I thought for a long time that I had to pick one, but finally found a common thread in the simple question of “ Why does what you’re doing/creating/producing matter? “ and on the business side, “Why does it matter to other people?"

So I guess in short, I try to answer that question for myself and other people.

In my free time wrench on vintage motorcycles, read, watch my wife laugh at me while I try to ride a horse (that’s what she does for a living) and overthink things (that’s what UC Berkeley does to you). Oddly enough, they overlap, for me I’m striving to answer that question and I feel constantly pursuing in as many aspects of my life brings it all together.

Q: When did your relationship with PF Flyers begin? 

A: The Sandlot, I loved that movie as a kid, but I picked up a pair a couple of years ago at The Brooklyn Circus SF, since then I can’t quit em. Q: What is your life motto? A: “My belief to be sure, can’t be optimistic - but I will posit life (the real, the good) in the self-governing resistance of the ego to the world. Life shall [be built in] doing, suffering, and creating.” - William James
