"Life is a Constant Journey Home" es una mezcla rara entre clásico inoxidable e inconseguible olvidado. Una pieza de colección para cualquier melómano y un álbum que depende de donde se busque puede resultar muy poco trascendente o tan fundamental como el agua. Personalmente lo descubrí hace unos meses -no recuerdo como- y cuando me puse a investigarlo me encontré con esto que describía en el primer párrafo. No se termina de entender qué lugar ocupa este disco de Jerry Moore en los anaqueles musicales del Siglo XX. Limitándome a lo musical, he de decir que lo encuentro muy atractivo y satisfactorio. Se trata de un soul jazz muy cuidado con algunas liricas de protesta típicas de la época que ofrece un trabajo vocal interesante mas no apabullante y que reúne a nombres de peso en los 60' como el de Eric Gale, Bill Satter, Ralph MacDonald y el gran Warren Smith. En cuanto a Jerry Moore, poco pude averiguar, aunque admito que no lo intente demasiado. Google tira muchos resultados de jugadores de Futbol Americano y algún que otro empleado de Dios. Segun Allmusic no grabo más que este disco y Ron Wynn agrega que trabajo en un par de discos "razonablemente efectivos de soul y blues en sellos regionales". "Life is a Constant Journey Home" es un trabajo conceptual de siete canciones que da vueltas alrededor del concepto de libertad y esperanza, con grandes dosis de soul y rhythm & blues y algún que otro destello folk -sobre todo en el tema título- cuya escucha se hace realmente amena y disfrutable si se está en sintonía con las composiciones de Moore. El álbum fue grabado en Impact Studio y fue lanzado al mercado por ESP-Disk, sello entonces famoso por trabajar con bandas como The Fugs o Pearls Before Swine. Tema favorito: Drugged, por su ambiente acalorado y sus punzantes guitarras.
