Artists Are Going To Get Us Through This

Get out and #vote but also start making more plans than ever before. #art #activism

This started out as a post on my Facebook but I realized I needed it on the record early and I’m going to be shouting it from the rooftop for the rest of eternity. Like a lot of you we’re going to be burying our heads in work and talking about the fundraiser, reviews, etc. No one wants to be thinking what we’re all thinking right now. Guys this is going to be wild and things are going to get crazy no matter what happens today or in the next few weeks. Take care of yourself, look to your loved ones, and bring your community together. Many of us have already been doing this and have been doing our part but now more than ever every artist has a singular mission statement. Go out there and love your community.

Find your people, your tribe and bring them together. Start “loving on them” like my family would say. Identify needs and start making plans to address them. We are the ones who are going to have to pick up where govt fails and sadly the govt has been failing us for a long time. No matter who wins this thing we’re going to be the people who need to meet the needs. It’s going to fall on us to do it and who is better at making something out of nothing than artists?

People are going to be looking to the artists during this time and we’re not going to have all the answers. We do have to have all the love. We’re going to have to find the love that is sufficient to get us through the day. We love you guys! All of you guys are our heroes and our friends. Laugh today. Bury your head under the covers tonight, tomorrow, or the rest of this week. Then we gotta get our game face on and be the first responders in this society. Together we’re going to make it through this.
