Boyo is very poorly which means I am spending the afternoon watching octonauts. It's been a very long time since I've done a love blog, but desperate times etc.

Gin and I are moving house! On Wednesday! None of us are thrilled about this! So now it's almost 9pm and I'm stacking books like it's my livelihood!

The problem with having been in a monogamous relationship for over 13 years now is that apparently our long standing injoke about the historical Richard II being haunted by a small Peruvian bear only he can see is "not funny" and "doesn't get better with the explanation."
I know loads has been written about the transformative powers of parenthood, and I know I apparently only have a personality as a Mom these days, but genuinely nothing prepared me for the cat coming for bedtime and sitting politely to listen to all the stories and staring at the pages when boyo turns them to show him that Dotty the donkey is sitting on the ball on this page!!!!, and gods only know what the hell it looks like to this fiercely loyal cat who has never had more than one thought per year at most
We found a cheesemonger this afternoon while walking through town looking for a cafe and popped in because we're not cowards. The person behind the counter saw us (two clearly queer hipsters, one excited blonde child with huge eyes) and immediately cut us pieces of a local red Leicester to try.
This, as it turns out, was a mistake. There is in fact someone who likes cheese more than my wife and she's 4 years old and comprised mostly of eyes, and at this point in time, getting hungry. Armed with the new knowledge that the server was clearly A Sucker, she proceeded to demand tasters of every cheese she could see, including the goat's cheese and the soft, smelly, brie like thing, politely, but firmly, while Gin and I desperately tried to calculate the minimum we needed to spend to make up for the fact that most of the shop was now in our child's stomach.
We finally left with a small bag, a delightedly skipping, less hungry child, and, I can only assume, a lifetime ban from yet another cheesemongers. Next time we'll go after the café.
