i have tlou brain rot rn and have spent the past month working on an ellie sim and let me tell you, once you start you can never go back. i need to air my grievances. okay one, there only like TWO ellie specific hairs in the ENTIRE sims 4 community. and i show people my progress and theyre like "oh it looks good i just think you need a different hair" haha yeah I THINK SO TOO.

numero dos, i have never, EVER, scrutinized a character's minute facial details as much as i have these past couple weeks. i work on one part of the face and then i move on but then i look back and the part i already worked on LOOKS WONKY, and so i go back and forth and back and forth until it is 2 in the morning and i am exhausted.

and you might be wondering "jessica, why are you putting so much effort into a sim you already know you will NEVER touch again???" a scene from the hunger games that gives me a good chuckle is at the end of the tribute parade when katniss goes to loosen her grasp on peeta’s hand and he tightens his and says “no. don’t let go of me. please. i might fall out of this thing.”

like that’s the most 16-year-old boy way to continue to hold your crush’s hand without telling her you have a crush on her. i absolutely love it.

this is the first time i’m rereading catching fire where this line really sticks out to me. it’s katniss implying that peeta is to katniss what annie is to finnick, and since she is aware that finnick is in love with annie, it is a nod that she understands that missing peeta is more than just missing a friend or someone she cares about. a nod to her not just missing a loved one, but her lover. this is one of the first times katniss subtly hints to her true feelings towards peeta without complicating them (and unfortunately, under the tragic circumstance of peeta having been taken by the capitol).

there are a lot of things that happen in sunrise on the reaping i can accept individually. like, on their own, i can accept that:

haymitch was best friends with katniss’s dad

haymitch is dating a covey girl

katniss’s dad is related to the covey

plutarch runs the media for district 12

plutarch identifies haymitch as a potential rebel

haymitch’s mentors were wiress and mags

beetee was forced to mentor his son in the 50th games

beetee quickly trusts haymitch to run a rebel plot

effie’s sister and effie are present during haymitch’s games

the tributes in the 50th games were trying to collude against the capitol

haymitch had his own interactions with snow before his games began

haymitch’s plot to destroy the arena fails, and they still let him live

haymitch called katniss sweetheart because she reminded him of louella

i just really struggle with accepting all of this. how everyone was already so interconnected and yet it took another 25 years and a girl who was kept entirely out of the loop to bring down the system.
