Chemistry, Passion and Bad Boy Bob...
Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (9th-13th December 2019)
The ‘who shot Mercedes’ saga continued this week as another suspect was eliminated from enquires. As the week began, Bobby was pestering Mercedes to be allowed to go and visit Sylver in prison, and was furious when she said no. That wasn’t the only trouble for Mercy, as over the days that followed, someone was clearly trying to put the wind up her. Mercedes was spooked when a disturbing photo was sent to The Dog and later, whilst in the car park, someone tried to push a barrel onto her. We didn’t have long to wait to find out who was terrorising Mercy, as young Bobby was quickly revealed to be the culprit. However, Mercy was soon given more to worry about when she received the news that a lab report had concluded that Sylver’s blood did not match a sample found on the door of The Loft...
This bombshell, announced by Grace during the quiz night, seemed to send Diane into a panic, and she confided in Edward that the blood could be hers. Deciding to own up before the police linked her with the shooting, Diane headed to the police station to confess to visiting Mercedes before she was shot. Despite Diane insisting that she’d left The Loft prior to the trigger being pulled, DS Cohen wasn’t convinced, and told Diane that her word was not enough to get her off the hook. Luckily for Diane, she had conclusive CCTV evidence that proved she couldn’t possibly have shot Mercedes. Diane took DS Cohen back to The Hutch, and presented her with a lovely little film of her and Edward getting down and dirty in the kitchen, just as the trigger was pulled. So, it would appear that Diane’s now in the clear as far as far as the shooting goes. However, there’s still the small matter of the fact that she slept with her husband’s Father, and it could well become common knowledge as DS Cohen revealed that the CCTV footage may be used as evidence at Sylver’s trial...
Meanwhile, Sid was feeling rejected as Juliet rekindled her friendship with Ollie and Imran, and called on Liam for some drugs. Later, Juliet felt guilty for ditching Sid last week and invited him back to hers, where he offered her some drugs. Juliet refused, and James returned home some time later to find Sid in a right old state, with Juliet trying and failing to help him. After realising that Liam had supplied the youngster with the drugs, James went round to confront him about the danger he had put Juliet in. However, he soon decided that a change of tactics was necessary, and he recorded Liam agreeing to supply him with half a kilo of ketamine...
It was Romeo’s talk of spending Christmas together as a family that changed James’ mind about handing the recording in. Realising that he preferred to live his life on the edge, he offered Liam the chance to go into business together (the criminal kind, of course, this Hollyoaks after all!) Initially, Liam wasn’t sold on the idea, but came round after the pair saved Kyle from a mugger outside The Hutch. The chemistry between the two continued to grow, resulting in the pair sharing a steamy kiss...
Elsewhere, determined to get Finn out of Chester once and for all, Sally, with encouragement from Edward, summoned John Paul to the village, under the guise of helping to deal with a family crisis. Arriving in the village, John Paul was angry to realise that he been duped, but eventually agreed to meet with Finn. With the support of Sally and Nancy, John Paul headed to the Hutchinson’s for his first meeting with Finn for more than five years, and made him see the pain that he was inflicting on everyone, including his own family, by setting up home in the village. Finn was persuaded to leave, which meant that John Paul finally felt able to return home full time. Needing to tie up some loose ends, John Paul headed back to Singapore, but promised Sally that he’d be back soon.
In other news this week, Jesse was ecstatic when Toby offered to help him rebrand the salon, starting with the arrival of a celebrity guest who could potentially be a new client. However, it was soon revealed that Jesse’s being taken for a ride by the newcomer. Finally, Romeo successfully launched a social media campaign to drum up business for the patisserie following the negative press coverage generated by Finn’s antics at the launch.

A Week of Stupid Ideas...
Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (2nd - 6th December 2019)
Brody and Liberty took drastic action in their bid to help Sienna become a Mother this week, as the pair decided to sleep together! As the week began, Sienna was optimistic as she prepared to apply to foster Sid, however, the teenager knew that Brody and Liberty didn’t want him around and told Sienna that, although he was grateful, he didn’t think he should live with her. Although upset, Sienna understood, and soon turned her attentions back to the surrogacy. Knowing that that’s no longer an option, Brody and Liberty panicked but neither could bring themselves to tell Sienna that the last of her eggs wasn’t viable. Instead, they came up with the idea to sleep together so that Sienna could get her baby! Whilst Sienna enjoyed an impromptu party with Martine and Lisa, Brody and Liberty headed to the love boat for a spot of baby making. The following morning, Sienna was rather worse for wear and in her hungover state, failed to notice the atmosphere between her sister and boyfriend...
Meanwhile, Cindy was on cloud nine as she prepared to move back into her old house, however, Luke was preoccupied by some worrying symptoms he kept experiencing. With the support of Darren, Luke headed to the hospital for a scan, leaving Cindy to move into the house alone. Cindy was furious with Luke for his lack of help, but Darren tried to cool the situation by informing Mandy that Luke was out buying a ring for Cindy. However, as Cindy raised a toast to her new life, Luke was at the hospital receiving his test results, and was devastated to be told that he had frontotemporal dementia. Unable to share the news with Cindy, and wanting to protect her from seeing yet another husband die, Luke told Cindy that their relationship was over.
Elsewhere, Yasmine made it her mission to find Finn a job. After being turned down by Marnie, Finn was offered a trial selling Christmas trees and was pleased that his new boss wasn’t fussed that he’d been in prison. The following day, Finn started work, but was horrified when he realised that their first drop off was Hollyoaks High. Although Finn initially waited outside the building, Juliet running off with his hat forced him inside, and he soon found himself back in the classroom where he’d raped John Paul (AKA, Hollyoaks High’s only classroom). Finn was found by Sally and Nancy, who were quick to inform his boss just why he’d been in prison. Finn later returned home with the news that he’d been fired, which was awkward as Diane, Yazz and the kids had thrown a party for him to celebrate his new job.
Later, Yasmine overheard Edward talking to Sally about Finn, telling her that she should phone the police the next time Finn does anything that makes her feel uncomfortable. Yasmine decided to do some digging about in Edward’s past, and was shocked to come across an article about Edward being arrested on suspicion of his wife’s death. Yasmine shared her discovery with Finn, but he didn’t react well and told Yasmine that he didn’t need her to fight his battles for him. The following day, Edward suggested to Finn that he attempt to show the community how sorry he was for his past actions by giving a speech at the opening of Marnie’s new French-inspired patisserie. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t go well, and Finn was booed off stage.
In other news this week, Mercedes was discharged from hospital but refused to tell the police that she’d lied about Sylver. However, Mercy was clearly spooked when Grace told her that, whilst she was busy framing Sylver, the real shooter was still out there. Jesse and Courtney attempted to impress newcomers, Toby and Celeste and finally, Sid was delighted when Sally agreed to give him another chance by returning to school.
