Eisley always had to prove herself to people simply because she was a woman. She spent all of her early life battling her brother’s and reaching for the highest endeavours she could possibly get. She wasn’t a natural witch, but time allowed her to hone and master her skills, eventually becoming a very talented and formidable spellcaster. Eisley pursued her lifelong passions for music, theatre, and film and she made her London West End debut when she was only twenty years old. She continued to poor her heart and soul into her work after her husband died in order to distract herself from the pain, but it didn’t come without consequence; now she wants to mend things before it’s too late.

Lucy feels torn between her mother and brother. She distracts herself mainly through her philanthropy work she got involved in when she married her high society husband. She regularly sees Eisley and her new husband and Lucy feels him to be a very positive influence on both of their lives. Her relationship with Hamish is a little more complicated, but she loves her brother dearly and hopes to influence him into leaving the past in order to be happy and move on. Lucy is also a very skilled metal charmer and uses her abilities to create ornaments to sell to the wealthy, giving the proceeds to those less fortunate.

Hamish misses his father dearly and is proud of his heritage. He can understand why his mother wanted to change her name, but he didn’t care for people’s rapidly changing views in the 1930s and 1940s. Hamish idolised Ansel and followed in his footsteps to become a doctor, specialising in cardiology, and spent the majority of his time working in London. He sees his mother far less than Lucy does and simply gets on with life with very few familial tethers and even less to the Wizarding World; it’s Eisley’s wish to repair her relationship with Hamish.

Ansel met Eisley at Hogwarts. He was a year older, and had just transferred from Durmstrang during her fifth year. He was somewhat reckless, very studious, and incredibly handsome. Eisley caught his attention when she turned his best friend’s ears into those of a pig when he was mercilessly bullying her. Amused, Ansel went to congratulate her. After Hogwarts, and after falling in love, she followed him to Germany where he trained as a physician and they married. They returned to England to have their children and that’s where they settled. Ansel was murdered by extreme supporters of fascism and his death completely tore his family apart.

Eisley met Jesse through mutual friends during a gathering she didn’t want to particularly attend. He was a true gentleman, very kind and very respectful as well as a creative and intellectual mind. Though Eisley’s children only met Jesse the once before she married him, they thought him an excellent partner for their mother and would’ve loved him for a stepfather if they were much younger and still needed a masculine influence in their lives. In no way was Jesse a replacement for Ansel- Eisley loved them both but in very different ways, yet she’d be lost without Jesse and his support.

• They met at a New Years party that was hosted by mutual friends. Eisley didn’t want to go- she was exhausted and had a busy work week ahead- but something made her give in.

• The first thing Eisley noticed about Jesse was not only his aged handsomeness but the fact he was such a gentleman. The first thing that Jesse noticed about Eisley was her bright blue-green eyes and her soft smile.

• Jesse never pestered Eisley by asking her of her dead husband and estranged children. He’d heard little bits about her story, but never wanted to dig into it. He might have been a more-than curious journalist, but he respected Eisley and her boundaries and knew she’d tell him when she was ready. It was one of the things that made her fall for him.

• They love to sing together as Eisley plays the piano. Christmases are especially lively. Eisley even taught Jesse a tune or two, even if he wasn’t a natural pianist.

• Eisley and Jesse married 18 months after meeting in Jesse’s hometown of Harrogate. It was a joyous occasion except for the fact that neither Lucille nor Hamish attended. Eisley invited them both and hoped they’d show up to the ceremony, but was devastated that neither of them were there nor did they send word of any kind to say they weren’t going to be there. Jesse promised her that until she got them back together, he’d be her family.

• Jesse had never been married before. His mother had given him one of her rings to use to propose if ever the occasion came up. It never did in her lifetime, but Jesse used that ring to propose to Eisley and it’s one of her most treasured possessions.

• Eisley was terrified to tell Jesse about her magical abilities, thinking he’d leave and never come back. But when she did tell him, Jesse smiled and took her hands in his, saying “It doesn’t scare me. In fact, I think it’s wonderful and I still love you. Very much.” It meant the absolute world to Eisley that Jesse was so accepting and that the news didn’t alter his feelings.

• Jesse was a young man when he went to Belgium to fight in the Great War. He didn't see as much action as most men as he ended up with a leg injury that put him in recovery for almost a year. He stills suffers from traumatic flashbacks and hid them for a while until one day Eisley found him on the kitchen floor, shaking with his head in his hands. She comforted him and sang to him until he'd calmed down and it was the moment that Jesse know he no longer had to feel embarrassed or ashamed or hide away from her.
