'Good times in bad places' - TRENT LANE X MALE READER
Summary - You go to see your brothers shitty band play but end up having a not so shitty night with his band mate (18 y/o reader, Trent is 20-21). Drunken makeout, reader is Jesse's younger brother, small mention of throwing up, grunge, I'm european so don't chat to me about reader drinking under 21 idc
You'd heard your brother Jesse's band play alot, but mostly blasting through walls in the house as 'Mystik Spiral' practiced - if you could even call it that. Everybody saw you as yet another washed up loser like Jesse, but instead of being allergic to anything that wasn't leather, you'd flunked out of high-school to peruse a career in smoking weed and throwing paint at a canvas.
But tonight, your antics were interrupted by the sudden appearance of a lanky boy peaking his head around the doorway.
Trent, fucking Trent the boy who made you weak in the knees for a reason suppressed into the subconscious of your mind. "Hey dude, Spiral is playing tonight. You uh should come with us - I'll give you a ride." He spoke in his usual nonchalant attitude whilst analysing the pit that had once been your room covered with posters and paint much to the disdain of your mother.
"I think I'll sit this one out."
"Oh come on! Support your big bro I'll get you in for free" Jesse declared as he suddenly popped out behind Trent, "I'll buy you a couple beers..." He added in a muttered tone.
So there you were, cramped into the tank with Jesse's bandmates, Trents sister and her new friend Daria on the way to the venue, in a far more chaotic way than needed with some song about a man trapped in a box blasting over the radio as you pulled up outside. It was getting pretty apparent that your presence wasn't just for 'supporting' Jesse as you helped haul equipment out of the van inside.
The venue itself is far from packed yet it was hard to imagine how many people would come to see a band like your brothers in such a place like Lawndale. Yet you weren't focused on much of the crowd as you lent on the bar trying to converse with Jane and Daria, being distracted by the sight of Trent as he stumbled onto stage. He was slurring slightly, having clearly had more than enough beers to be performing. But it's not like he cared, Trent never cared much about anything a characteristic that you found somewhat agitating and at the same indearing.
Throughout the bands performance he kept looking over, at first you thought it was to keep an eye on his sister since he was always a tad protective of her especially in a rougher place like this. Yet his looks continued even after Jane and Daria had disappeared off somewhere and you had gradually gotten closer to the stage.
The crowd had seemed to get wilder and wilder as you continued to drink the beer your brother had gotten you, more people showed up gradually and the air had become thick with cigarette smoke and sweat like every other dingy venue ever. Yet all you could think about was him, Trent was getting raspier as he sang causing those same feelings to flourish like they had before when he appeared in your bedroom door, but this time they were deeper.
After about half an hour Mystik Spiral had finished and the next band was setting up, Jesse was dragging you to the bar again arm over your shoulder raving about how good his guitar sounded tonight. Trent followed alongside you but his mood was far different from your brothers, he was still looking at you almost like his nonchalant mask was slipping as he thought about his feelings for you. They were far less repressed than yours, however he hadn't ever thought of acting on them more than the few times he had seen you at past parties whilst being far less intoxicated than he was now.
A part of his brain was thinking about who was going to drive home, but most of his thoughts were on finding a way to make a move on you before his sister appeared again to take him home. It was obvious what most people would think about him liking another guy, especially if that guy was his best friends younger brother. Frankly he didn't care enough for that right now as he crashed into the bathroom to wash the sweat off his face from performing, messing with his damp hair when you walked in.
Trent greeted you in that sly wraspy voice that made you feel small in a weird way, even if you were taller than him it didn't matter, constantly feeling like you were under a microscope every time he spoke to you. It felt like you were running by the time the stall door shut, physically you werent but the panic you felt after 10 seconds alone with Trent was enough to make it that way. After taking that dreaded drunken piss, you open the door again to find trent still there this time leaning on the sink looking at you. There was a look of curiosity in his eyes as he spoke, "why do you always look at me like that?" the question made you freeze thinking that your awkward deminer had caused him to think you didn't like him. "You're always so quick to disappear every time I see you, all flustered like that Daria girl" he chuckled slightly before adding "Either that or you're too focused on bickering with Jesse to notice me." It felt like he was interrogating you in some way you wouldnt understand until he started walking toward you. "It's like you're into me or something" looking into your eyes as he backed you into the stall again.
"So what? Not like you care, Trent you're half asleep most of the time... I never even get a chance to talk to you so dazed out. " Words came out in a mutter but it was clear the boy understood, neither of you were going to admit anything so he decided to act on his feelings instead. Trent leaned in to you, causing you both to stumble back into the wall of the stall you stood in when he went in to kiss you.
Stubble scratched your chin as Trent continued, but that didn't matter when all you could focus on was holding onto him and reciprocating the kiss that has quickly turned into an unprecedented makeout. His arm was around you, pulling you closer than you thought was possible, it felt just as intoxicating as any alcohol you both had consumed that night. Trent pulled away, but his arm remained around your shoulder and the other hand pressed up against concrete. "I knew it, you like me don't you, I've finally broken through all that angst huh?" Trent spoke softly, his tone was different to anything heard from him before, yet he was interrupted by you pulling him back into the kiss, mumbling for him to shut up.
"Yo Trent? You in there?" Jane. Of course it had to be Jane to open the door of the men's bathroom in search of her brother... Trent turned his head, looking almost flustered as his voice called over the stall before looking back at you. "I've been looking for you everywhere!" His sister said as Trent stepped back from you, somewhat conflicted wanting to send her off again for a few more minutes so he could stay with you. Yet his brotherly instincts kicked in, he couldn't leave Jane and Daria sat around waiting with the likes of Jesse who was probably throwing up somewhere or being equally as obnoxious.
"Hey give me a minute Janey, I'll be out in a second.." Trent looked at you as the sound of Jane sighing and shutting the door faded, he playfully ruffled your hair in some way off lightening the situation you almost got caught in.
"Let's go find Jesse, I'm sure Max is sober enough to drive us all home."
