Myrtle Beach Musical

Chelsea, Brandon, & I drove off to Myrtle Beach this weekend for a mini vacation. After checking into the resort, we had a pregame party before heading out to The Boathouse to see our friends Jesse & Chase play. Let’s just say someone couldn’t hold their liquor and this blog will help them piece together most of the night… Once we got to The Boathouse we made friends with the bouncer Jay who took care of us all night. Our new friend Jesse Rice took the stage and Chelsea and I were front row, dancing and singing to every song. I think we were the only ones who knew every single word but we did get some backup here and there. I love Jesse’s music, but meeting him two weeks prior and then finally getting to see him in concert made me love it even more. If you get the chance to see him live, please go!

Next up was Chase Rice, opening with the title track of his new album, Dirt Road Communion which totally beats out Aldean’s Dirt Road Anthem. Go download it! Halfway into the show Chelsea got to get on stage and sing along to Jake Owen’s Barefoot Blue Jean Night with Chase. Totally jealous! Chase really puts on a hell of a show.

The after party was definitely the best. We stayed until closing, teaching people some of our line dances. Then those famous words, you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here! So we stayed in the parking lot. Jesse had a little freestyle moment with some of the staff. We headed over to the hotel next door to party with the band, and our waitress, so random. Then we headed back over to the parking lot and partied some more. Hello hotel room at 5:30am.

And I'm SO tired of feeling bad about myself all the time. Bad about how I look. Bad about my job. Bad about my net worth (which is currently quite RED in color). Bad about my 12-year-old car and my one-fashion-season-behind clothes. Bad about my prospects for wealth and fame and Nobel Prize-winning ideas. Bad about my community, or lack thereof....

And all of this is especially horrible, terrible, evil because if I really stop and think about it, and let things go quiet and listen patiently for the voice of the God who made me and delights in me, it turns out I'm actually - profoundly - precious, lovable, worthy, valuable, and even just a little ghetto-fabulous.
