Interactive Portfolio Research:
The interactive portfolio I decided to research and look at is that of illustrator and graphic designer Jesse Willmon. I picked this one because it reminds me of the theme/style I tried to apply to my tumblr blog and will try to apply to my own portfolio. The text on the site looks almost as if it’s been handwritten straight onto it and the navigation menu is clearly situated along the top. The roll-over turns the black text pink which stands out immediately.
There’s a lot of whitespace which makes the text easy to read and easy on the eyes. Personally, I’d assume that the portfolio is aged at a younger audience, based on the artwork, colour scheme and typography - however, despite it’s quirkiness and almost laid-back feel, it also comes across as very professional, clearly listing Willmon’s work, labeling and displaying it well.
I believe the purpose of this portfolio is to display the artists work clearly in order to attract a customer base, seeing how the artist has worked with many companies such as BBC, Power Rangers, and Huffington Post. Overall, I think that this site is very aesthetically pleasing and fulfills it’s purpose well.
